Varsity Defeat Heartbreaker Student Writer: Britney Fawcett t Junior Varsity Boys Basketball suffered a very disappointing loss to the Duchesne Eagles oo Dec. 17. The boys traveled down to Duchesne Thursday afternoon hoping to exterminate the Eagles. The JV team came out and played really well. The Braves and the Eagles battled throughout the first hall Both teams played great offensively and defensively. They kept the scene tight, but the Braves were on top e with the seme 32 to 27. . After a quick pep talk from Coach Ralph..Jones, the Braves returned bade to the game. Duchesne played a tough third quarter scoring thirteen points and keeping the Braves at only making eight. The score was now 40 to 40. The fourth quarter wu really tight with both teams keeping the seme dose, but scored a lot of points. Both teams were tied at 57. With seconds to go, a Duchesne player threw a field goal and won the game for die Eagles. The final score wu 57 to 60. It wu such a heartbreaker for the Braves, but they all played really well! Student Writer: Clint Peterson m to The Brava journeyed Duchesne on the 18th of December to battle out against the Eagles. North Summit came out cold again in the first quarter making only one point the entire eight minuets. The bad u the second quarter wasnt the Brava cut Duchesnes first lead in half making the score 11 to 22 at halftime. .The secondhalf wu just bad for the Braves. North Summit wu unable to put together an offense and had ova 20 turnovers. In the fourth quarter Justin Pace received a concussion while trying to block a shot from one of foe Eagles. The Brava started off strong an outscored the Rebels in the first quarter 14 to 9. The Brava played hard the and ended the half up by six points. The Brava came out ready to play the second half and outscored the Rebels 62 to 52. Landon Judd played well and screed 15 points in the game. Adam Brown also played strong with 9 points. Wasatch Student Writer: Sarah Sea lie The Freshmen girls started the game off excellent scoring the first few points and taking the lead. Wasatch pulled ahead and had a lead of 19 points by half time. The Braves leading scorer, Bridgette Willoughby, screed 6 points. In the second half, the Freshmen Brava tried their hardest but were no match for the taller girls. The Brava lost with an agonizing scree of 51 to 13. The Lady Brava gave it all they had but its a little more difficult against a 3A school. More plays and strategies will definitely win the game next time. A little before six oclock, the Varsity Lady Braves took the floor, pumped up and ready to play. The five starters for North Summit were Blaire Judd, Millie Judd, Camille Fowles, Misty Brooks, and Julie MonilL The Braves took the lead, by scoring the first basket of the competition. After the first quarter wu over; North Summit was ahead, 6 to 5. In the second quarter; the Christmas plays were written and performed by students in Mrs. Londons room. Tbey had a variety of puppets to choose from but Santa had to be involved and the play had to deal with a problem and the solving of the problem. On Dec. 17, the freshmen boys jumped onto to the bus with excitement to play .the Duchesne Eagles. When the Brava walked into the gym, the Eagles felt fear. The game started off good with Jake Downard getting the tip off. When the half time buzzer rang, the brava were behind by two baskets. With a long pep talk the boys came back pepped and ready to bring home the victory. Throughout the game the score wu very dose with everyone scoring a lot of baskets. The freshmen played good offense and real tough defense. The fourth quarter wu very tense for the Braves. In the last minute of the game, the Eagles were up by three points. With thirty seconds left, Barry Williams made a three pointer to tie the score. With fifteen seconds left the Braves stole the ball and Jake Downard screed the winning basket The final score wu 5 with the Brava winning.
