The sparkle of starlight reflecting against the window as my brothers and I searched the winter night to see Santa and his reindeer flying across the sky with bags of toys and goodies on his sleigh. We waited to hear the hooves touch down on our roof and wondered aloud how he could deliver our desired toys to a house with no chimney. Mom promised to leave the front door unlocked if we were good and hurried off to bath and bed. We had prepared the plate of cookies and the milk with care . We were extra careful to do all that Mom and Dad wanted us to do so Santa would not pass us by. Sometime in the early morning, we walked down the hall to wake Mom and Dad from a warm bed. I'm not sure they appreciated the importance of the hour, but they were good sports. The living room was magical as we walked in and found our stockings stuffed with fruit and a candy cane. Santa had I a dfii left something fun to play with for each of us. We also exchanged gifts and waited with anticipation as the gifts we had given were opened, hoping we had made a good choice. I continue to search the winter sky each year. Christmas is after all, a magical time of the year.
