Harmston. Following is a reprint of that article, with some deletions to conform to apace requirements: Just before the opening of the Uintah Reservation in 1905, EdF. Harmston visited Salt Lake City for the company, for whom ho was then working, and on his return had far a fellow passenger from Price, August M. Estey, a real estate man of Denver, Cola, at whose request he located on the NW 14 Sec. 22, T2S, R1W, on August 30, 1905, homestead entry No. 230, on Gilson-Asphaltu- m u Roosevelt, Byron D. Nebeker of Vernal filed a soldiers declaratory on the NW 14 NW 14 Sec. 22, and procured a final certificate and later a patent to that 40, Juno 30, 1905, which wu later reconveyed to Mr. Harmston. On February 19, 1906, tha survey waa completed of the NW 14 NW 14 Sec. 22, as Plat "A, Roosevelt, Utah, tha town having previously been named. "Roosevelt" by Mary E. Harmston, wife of tho founder, after the then President of tha United States, she being a great admirer of Teddy". A plat of said Plat A waa prepared and filed by J. C. Jensen of Haber, tha then county clerk and recorder of Wuatch county, Feb C. Haller filed upon 8E 14 Sec. 1, T28, R1W, May 9, 1906, which he proved up Sept 29, 1909, and which is partly in the townsito, but which contains tho city cemetery but no town plat to date. Rooeevelt waa incorporated aa a town March 4, 1912, with Ed F. Harmston as mayor, and R. S. Collett Owen Benniqn, O. H. Bracken and J. H. Hardly as trustees. They were appointed by the board of county commissioners of Wasatch county, Nov. 1913, and served until January 1, 1915. Ed F. Harmston was alerted president of the town board with tha following members of the board: R. 8. Collett, Owen Bannion, O. W. tho sits of Flat B; homestead entry Na 198, NW 14 Sec. 21, by Melvin Pickup, now site of "Pickups Addition to Roosevelt; November 2, 1905, Edmund Gam filed upon SW 14 Sec. 15, which be later relinquished and which was filed upon April 1, 1907 by Elroy Wilkins as homestead entry Na 1866, and upon which Flat U was later platted, upon tha SW 40 of tract: Flat E waa later platted Bennion.
