Dr. Richard P. Lindsay, managing director of public communications for the Church, addressed a meeting of the Religious Alliance Against Pornography (RAAP) and previewed for the organization a newly produced video documenand tary on the evils of hard-cor- e child pornography. The Church is affiliated with RAAP, whose membership includes leaders of virtually every major religious denomination in the country. Dr. Lindsay decried "the onpornography slaught of hard-cor- e in our land, adding that "the pries being paid in the corruption of human lives is staggering. y He described pornography as a multi industry that trades on human weakness to make a profit, no matter the price paid in ruined lives. Dr. Lindsay referred to an interview in the video documentary with Dr. James Mason, director of the National Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. Dr. Mason says virtually all sexually transmitted diseases are out ofcontrol because the nations behavior is out of control, the speaker said. He quoted a statement in the video by Dr. Mason, who says, I cant help but believe that an indulgent society which permits pornography on media that is seen casualty fay youth and adults is a significant contributor to the epidemic of sexualty transmitted disease fin our country. America is built on the strong values of men and women who --billion-dollar wanted this land to be a bastion not only of opportunity, but ona where families can live, grow and flourish in an environment of decency Dr. Lindsay said. "These values .were set into place long ago, but they need constant reinforcement, he said. We must work together, man and women of all faiths, to combat the pollution that threatens to poison the reservoir of spiritual strength weve been blessed to inherit. ' r- t if ?'
