Show BMX Queen pageant held The Miss BMX contest will be held for the second year in conjunction with the U.B.I.C. The competition will take place on Wednesday July 31. Following is a time and place schedule for the event: Physical fitness at the old park stage at 9 a.m. . Modeling afternoon dress at the did park stage at 9:30 a.m. Interview with judges at the Bike Shop at 9 a.m. Bike ride around track on Friday. All girls are invited to enter this contest. The ultimate objective is to promote the sport of BMX Bicycle racing. There will be two queens chosen, and a Miss a miss jr. BMX (ages A $10 dollar Senior BMX (ages Road-runne- entry fee will be assessed at the time of registration. Each girl will be required to bake and decorate a cake with a BMX logo of her own choosing. The cake will be judged Friday. The girls will receive points for the following: Physical fitness - 25, Bike ride - 25, Interview 25, Cake 25, Afternoon Dress - 25. BMX bike racing The BMX races for the U.B.I.C. will be held at the Rad Hill Raceway on August 2. For this race the boys do not need to be a member of the USBA. They will be radng for trophies only, and not points. Sign ups will take place on the track that day at 8 p.m., or at the Roadrunners Bike Shop anytime. Racing time has been scheduled for 5 p.m. on August 2. The fee for the race is $3. For those boys and girls who are members of the USBA, they need to realize that this non point race is an open class. The age groups will be grouped accordingly from 5 through 18 and up. No consideration will be taken for novice, expert or advanced. If time permits there will be some novelty races at the same time. Bike relays and other racing games. The next day Saturday August 3, the Rad HOI Raceway has a double points race scheduled. All riders will have to be members of the USBA to race. Set up for cooking is at 3:30 p.m. Judging qill be at 5:30 p.m. The contest is open to males 16 years and over who enjoy outdoor cooking and want to show off their cooking ability. Contestants will be judged in one of five categories, beef, lamb, park, poultry, and dutch oven, as well as showmanship. Winners in each category will receive trophies and cash awards and will be eligible to compete in the Utah Farm Bureau Cookout King Contest September 7, at the Utah State Fair.
