Then, in a quick moment, a pattern appears, some order in a random world, and you catch a glimpse of why you are here. The reason for events becomes apparent, and you can see where you are going. This is a world of order. God put us here for a purpose, and gave us the means to carry out His plan. We may not always understand, but understanding can come through following the blueprints of the plan in the scriptures. Shared Ministries executive and moderator of the Myton Session, led the morning worship on the first Advent. To open this Sunday-i- 8. Company Jay and Employees 722-271- Church News 8etfsmrnMv,preparaUot,n,kii(f 'glad anticipation, the first candle of the Advent wreath was lighted by Sarah Harvey. The Old Testament Scripture was and the New Numbers 9:15-2- 3 Testament Scripture was John 1:1-1Mr. Rigs tad entitled his sermon, "Light Among the Shadows. He discussed the Feast of Tabernacles (booths) which used four pillars of light to recall the pillar of fire that led the Israelites through the wilderness by night just as the cloud led them by day. By the time Jesus came, the fefest was a time of hope for the coming Messiah. Jesus stood up at this feast and said, I am the Light of the world. His claim is so unique that we are forced to make a choice. Health, happiness and material success have shakily replaced faith, hope and encouragement for many, instead of accepting Christ as our Savior Christ said, He who follows Me will not walk in darkness. If joy has gone out of the present and hope for tiie future, perhaps we have strayed from our call by Christ Some camp overlong and fail to move on when the cloud lifts; others are impatient and move toward without seeking God's guidance. We should remember that faith is only the condition fen- following Chris it is the faithful following that is true joy. Often in searching for Gods direction, our unwillingness to search or to accept is the problem. Where are you in relation to that Christ and how closely do you follow? The Reception of Members was held with Bob and Vicki Matthews being welcomed into the community of the congregation as members. The Sacrement of Baptism was performed with Elder Kay Smith assisting the Reverend Mr. Rigs tad as Colby Patrick Matthews and Devin William Matthews were baptized. This was a happy day for the Matthews family as well as for the . Myton congregation. The Sacrament of the Lords Supper was observed with Elders Cal Monks and Kay Smith assisting. Following the service a time of fellowship and refreshement was held in the church kitchen. Next week will be the last Sunday for John Hewes to be our speaker into1 to his departure to seminary studies.
