A reception will be held December 11 at the Uintah Basin Vocational Center in Roosevelt. HERE S SANTA! Roosevelt has the pleasure of Santa's presence last weekend. He was here to kick off the merchants sales for Christmas shoppers. About 800 were on hand to visit with Santa and put in last minute orders from the North Pole. He also visited Stewarts Convalescent Villa in town. He was brought in with the help of the Roosevelt Area Chamber of Com-merce. Wendell Wilson Wendell Wilson is to be honored for a life of extraordinary service at an Open House Saturday, December 4, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Omni 0. Winterton in Roosevelt from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friends are invited to call. Wendell is nearing retirement from his job as Star Route Mail carrier of the U.S. Mail, which job he has held since 1965 after his father, Seth Wilson died. Seth had carried the mail since 1919, the year Wendell was bom. As a child Wendell used to go with his father when he took the mail with team and wagon between Tridell and Fort Duchesne. In the middle of winter they covered themselves with canvas and held lanterns between their knees to keep warm as they drove from mail box to mail box and from post office to post office delivering the mail each day. The job used to be eleven hour schedule, but has dwindled to about five hours as he goes twice daily to Neola and back and around the box delivery route. In his 17 years as a mail carrier Wendell has driven over a quarter of a million miles on the route accident free. He has sorted and delivered mail to an average of sixty-fiv. e Bingo 1 to 4 p.m. we have, a good crowd of Bingo players come and join us.
