Show I Thursday, November 18. 1982 Uintah Basin Standard 14 Thompson is Miss Indian SUSC Attendant Anna Marie Stanfield, a Kaibab-Paiut- e from Fredonia, Arizona, has been crowned Miss Indian SUSC. e and her court were elected Friday at Southern Utah State American activities held Saturday at Club SUSC. The SUSC Inter-TribCenter were event and Multi-Cultursponsors. Noreen A. Thompson, a Northern Ute from Roosevelt, was named the al al College. Miss Stanfield is the daughter of Earl and Gloria Stanfield and a 1981 graduate of Fredonia High School. The SUSC freshman sang a Paiute tribal song, in Paiute, for the talent portion of the Miss Indian SUSC Pageantr The seventh annual Indian princess pageant was held in conjunction with a and other Native first attendant by the pageant judges, one of them Sunny Dooley, Miss Navajo, 1982. Miss Thompson is a graduate of Sherman Indian High School, Riverside, California, and a freshman business administration major at SUSC. She performed the Ute feather dance at the pageant Second attendant Crecinda June, a Navajo from Tuba City, Arizona, POw-Wo- w demonstrated corn grinding at the pageant. She is a freshman computer science major at SUSC, a 1982 graduate of Tuba City high school. In the same contest Mildred from Navajo Drake, a Navajo Mountain, Arizona told the story of her tribe's wedding basket Miss Drake, a sophomore drafting major, was named the third attendant to Miss Indian SUSC. She is a 1981 Tuba City high school graduate. Miss Congeniality, Betty Blake, is a Navajo from Oljato, Arizona. She sang in Navajo and also told about the significance of the Navajo wedding basket at the pageant which included both traditional and modern talent presentations. Miss Blake graduated from Tuba City high school in 1978. She is a junior business major at SUSC. Betty Blake was selected as Mi6s Congeniality. and Rex Bird were able to bag these bucks during the regular hunt. Burt's deer had a 30V4 inch spread with five points on one side and six on the other. Rex's deer had a 26'a inch spread with five points on each side. They didn't say where they hunted so if you want to know, you'll have to follow them next year. REGULAR HUNT TROPHYSI Burt Smokeout slated for November 18 The Great American Smokeout is planned for Thursday, November 18, and all smokers are asked to make pledges that they will not smoke on that day. Pledge cards are available at Roosevelt businesses. People who do not smoke may also participate by pigging to help a friend stop smoking for that day. There will be a drawing held in conjunction with the Smoke Out.
