Show ( I I 9 Thursday. November 18. 1982 Uintah Basin Standard 13 Union class produces Stained Glass art For years people have gazed in awe at numerous works of art. One of themost fascinating is stained glass. The art form has been used in churches and cathedrals for years, and this year students at Union have had the chance to experience the challenge of producing products of stained glass. According to Joyce Bolton, Union Art Teacher, the method used by the students is the Louis Tiffany method. She said the process involves the use of copper tape, glass and Bolder. After the glass is cut to the desired dimensions, copper tape is wrapped around the edges. She said this is done so the solder has something to adhere to. When this is completed the student takes a solder gun and connects the pieces of glass. The process may sound simple, but it takes many hours of preparation and careful attention. Students also have the opportunity to etch designs into their works. This is accomplished by first selecting the design they desire. After this has been accomplished they use an etching creme which places the design into the glass. To this point the students have been working on individual projects, but will soon begin windows for the front of the school. Mrs. Bolton said they held a contest to see who could draw the best cougar. From these entries they selected six. These drawings will be etched into glass and placed in windows made for the school. She STANINED GLASS These students at Union high school have been learning the process of developing stained glass art. The students will be moving into other projects in the future including a plan to do six windows in the main trance of the building. Insulated homes are also more desirable and worth more in the resale market because of their energy-savin- g features. Investments in insulation are often called meaning that they pay a over a reasonable period of return greater time in energy savings. High game was Nonnie Schimmels, Never before has the automobile industry been so competitive, so confused with rebates, incentives, giveaways and gimmicks designed to stimulate sales. The reasons are simple. Most cars arent selling as well now. The economy has been sluggish, interest rates have been prohibitively high and money is still in short supply. According to the latest data from R. L. Polk and Company (sales figures through calendar year 1982), Ford has been hurting. Their sales are the lowest they've been since 1980. The same situation applies to Chevy. But not Chrysler Corporation cars. Their sales are the highest they've been over the last three years! Which means more people have been turning to Dodge as one of the leaders. For another thing, Dodge dealers have become more competitive, offering customers a substantial value for the money the kind of quality Americans demand. So Dodge dealers are determined to maintain the momentum already established by meeting department, but said the students are doing a great job at improving their talents. the competition head-owhether Ford, Chevrolet or any other make import or domestic. The car that's quality engineered to be the best with excellent styling, fuel economy, comfort and room. The car that 50,000-mil- e offers protection thats the best in the business. So if you're jinking about buying a new car, think long and hard about Dodge. Talk to any of our owners. Take a test drive. Compare Dodge with any other car on the jnarket, value for value. And listen to the deal your Dodge dealer can make. Then you'll see why Dodge sales are up. You'll see why Dodge dealers are on the move. Youll learn that they mean business. Mrs. Bolton expressed her appreciation to Jones Paint and Glass for donating all the clear glass. She explained that all scrap pieces are saved and taken to the school. Because of the help of donations such as this, and the students desires to produce fine works, an art exhibit will be held next Monday, November Conferen22, during parent-Teachces. The students have the ability to do this type of art work, said Mrs. Bolton. They just need the encouragement."
