Show lhursday, Roosevelt Visual Arts Guild to bold art show Arts Council is sponsoring a reception for the artists Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 6:30-- p.m. at the Uintah Basin witercolars and graphics, by local artists, will be on display and for sale during the Roosevelt Visual Arts Guild Art Show. The art show will be held in conjunction with the fourth annual Holly Fair to be held Thursday and Friday, Dee. Oils, 9 Area Vocational Center. Local artists participating in the show are Geri Harding, Joyce Bolton, Christy King and Areva Redden. 4-- 5, The Roosevelt Community Fine November 27, 1980 The fourth annual Holly Fair is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Dec. at the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center. Beverly Evans, chairman, said, We are really pleased with the response wo have had on the talent program, as well as (he booths. There are approximately 75 booths that have registered to sell homemade Christmas' items and handcrafts. Several new things have been added this year and we are looking forward to having people come to the UBAVC to see our school, as well as add to the Christmas Season." Some of the features this year will include an art show featuring four local artists Wednesday, Dec. 3, in the UBAVC from 6-- 9 p.m. The art show is being sponsored by the Roosevelt Fine Arts Council and will feature paintings by Christy King, art instructor at Roosevelt junior high school; Joyce 4-- education instruction at UBAVC; and Geri Harding, teacher assistant at ConAmore. Christmas in Concert Mrs. Smith celebrates SOth birthday anniversary Friends and relatives of Mrs. Mabell Pickup Ashby Smith, who will be observing her 80th birthday anniversary in December, are invited to honor her at an open house to be held Saturday, Dec. 6, from 8 to 6 p.m. in the Murray North LDS Stake Center, 5200 South 700 West. The event is being hosted by her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Smith requests that no gifts be given. Mrs. Smith was born December 22, 1900, in Vernal to George Melvin and Edith Keeler Pickup. She moved with her family to Roosevelt in 1906, where here fother homesteaded on which is ' now the West Bench. , Tj" She lived in Roosevelt r until "she married John L. Ashby' Dee. 4,1919, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Altonah, Bluebell, Bridgeland, Jensen, Maeser and Murray. Mr. Ashby died in December, 1948. ' She married Thomas B. Smith Oct 19, 1958. They lived in Murray and Santequin. Mr. Smith died in August, 1970. Mrs. Smith is currently a member of Christmas in Concert." a special benefit concert for the Utah Society to Prevent Blindness, will feature popular composer-arrangLex de Aseve-d- o conducting the Utah Symphony Orchestra. Along with her husband, Mr. Smith, she served a two-yea- r mission in the Gulf States, and also a two-yea-r stake mission in Murray. Seven children will be honoring her during the open house. They include Mrs. Cedi (Edith) Sellers, Duchesne; Mrs. Earl (Geneva) Pearson, Las Vegas, Nev.; Wayne J.; St. George; Evan M., Claim Francis E., i and Mrs. William (Melva) Roath, all Murray. Larsen on their 50th wedding anniversary will be held in the Ephrata, Washington LDS Chapel Friday, Nov. 28, between the hours of 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Their children cordially invite their many friends to attend. The Larsens are former residents of Arcadia and moved to Washington in 1955. Uintah Baa in Standard The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Theodore Camp, held their regular scheduled meeting in the DUP Building Thursday, Nov. 20. There were ten members present. Nellie Lang gave the lesson. Luncheon was served by Marie Baum and Annie Mezenen. Mothers Gub Mothers Club was held Thursday, at the home of JoAnn Grant Members exchanged recipe ideas with a taste and tell night Laura Jensen demonstrated how to dip chocolates. The next meeting will be the Christmas party Thursday, Dec. 18, at the home of Trudy Bailey. Nov. 20, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers held their meeting at the home of Jennie Jones in Tabiona last Mondsy. County officials were also present at the meeting. there will be a demonstration on preparing Christmas foods in the microwave oven. These hourly demonstrations will be given by Jarean home economics specialist for Utah State University, Duchesne County. She will demonstrate how to do a different type of food every hour and provide free recipes. The twoday event will include informal programs featuring top entertainment from throughout the Uintah Basin, movies, booths, and other special activities. A Disney movie will be shown continuously for the children. Santa will make his annual appearance as well. Some of the features of the program will be talent from local schools and a ski swap where residents of the area can bring in old ski equipment and sell it. The Holly Fair is Thursday, Dee. 4, from 10 a.m. 9 p.m., and Friday, Dee. 5 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Everyone in the area is encouraged to come and participate in this holiday gsla. Basitiites honored at annual meeting The Iota Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi, national honorary extension fraternity, held its annual meeting in Logan at Utah State University Thursday, Nov. 20.
