Show Bucks second at Bloomfield wrestling tourney The MonticeUo High School wrestlers remained among the top of the pack for another week after finishing second among 21 teams at the Bloomfield tournament. The Bucks placed second to a tough Aztec team and were followed by Pagosa Springs, Kirtland, and San Juan rounding out the top five. Buckaroos Andy Butler and Mark Snyder remain undefeated after outstanding performances in the tournament. Butler dominated opponents with a 17--0 technical fall, 8-- 1 win, 8--1 win, and a 13-- 4 victory in the finals over Kyle Blankenagel, each finishing with second place medals. Curtis cruised through the first three rounds with two pins and a 3 win. In the finals he led 1 and was working to add points in the third period when his man got a break and the pin. Garcia had a pin and dominating 11-- 1 and 15-- 0 wins, but was handed a tough 10-- 4 loss in the finals in a match closer than the score indicated. Blankenagel advanced through two rounds with a pin and a 9--3 win but fell 3 in the finals after a very physical and hard fought match. Casen Eldredge placed third with a 9--2 win in the finals. Eldredge had pins in two early round wins and 6 loss in a tough match with the Aztec wrestler who later placed 1st 7-- 4-- 7-- Ridell of Dove Creek. Snyder continued an impressive season with a 16-- technical fall, a 2 win, and a 10-- 4 win in the finals. Not far behind were Kyle Curtis, TC Garcia and Jeff at 130 pounds. 0 7-- 3-- . Chad Butler, Curtis Burtenshaw, and Tyrol Snyder rounded out the varsity wrestlers. Butler had two pins, one against a state champion from Shiprock, but after a tough loss couldn't come back to place. Burtenshaw had two big wins 8-- and 11-- 4 but two losses kept him from placing. In a junior varsity tournament, Zach Higgins placed first at 152 pounds, pinning all four of his opponents.
