The meeting aims to inform the public about development of a Resource Management Plan (RMP) for the museum. The RMP will provide a framework for future management and will likely address nuu'or concerns dealing with collections 7-- management, exhibit enhancement and educational outreach among other issues. The RMP team, which includes community members and state park representatives, wants to hear input from local citizens, potential visitors and others with an interest in the future of Edge of the Cedars. Meeting participants will be asked to identify critical issues that should be considered within the plan. Edge of the Cedars recognizes that in order to survive, it must have a relevant and meaningful mission with a strong educational focus, and it must practice sound fiscal management for sustainabiity. Exhibits must be scientifically accurate, yet sensitive to the needs and interests of Native Americans. Through careful planning and community involvement, Edge of the Cedars intends to improve the effectiveness of community partnerships, improve marketing strategies, and find ways to attract larger and more diverse audiences to the museum. These efforts will likely bring economic opportunities and prosperity to the communities of southeast Utah, while proudly preserving and sharing our rich cultural heritage.
