In addition, he has earned Educator of the Year awards from the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Officials from the Dinosaur Museum in Blanding recently signed a contract with a Chinese provincial government to provide a traveling exhibit featuring feathered dinosaurs. Officials state that the exhibit will highlight one of the most exciting paleontological finds in recent memory. Representatives of the Liaoning province in China signed the contract with the Dinosaur Museum officials on December 14. Steven and Sylvia Czerkas of the Dinosaur Museum will develop the exhibit, which will include sculptural models, graphics and photo blowups, and will travel to museums throughout the United States. The focus is a series of fossils discovered in China which show irrefutable evidence that the raptor family of dinosaurs had feathers, and were very similar to birds. Thisi such. an, incredible., achievement for any museum in the world, and we are delighted SINCE 1915 Blanding. The new feathered dinosaur exhibit adds a third more space to the museum, which is experiencing increasing visitation in recent years. Steven Czerkas says for years only two paleontologists, Robert Bakker and Gregory Paul, even dared suggest that dinosaurs had feathers. As a result, they were ridiculed and viewed as outcasts or heretics. Now he says that there is abundant evidence that demonstrates conclusively that Bakker and Paul were right all along. Czerkas said that the exhibit will be built around the actual fossils discovered in the Liaoning province in China. Czerkas explained that the large number of fossils from the Liaoning area are because the area was once an ancient lake bed surrounded by volcanoes. The dinosaurs would die from the sulfur kicked out by the volcanoes and the bodies would be covered with ash. As a result, they were remarkably well prethe Chinese government served, to the point that feaththat has contracted with the Dino- ers are clearly evidenced in the saur Museum to provide this ex- fossil record.
