regular meeting of city council considerable business trans acted and reports of city officers submitted the council meeting last friday night was attended ty downe russel and hearold with mayor stack presiding after the regular routine business had been transacted liquor licenses vi ere granted to co in mcmurphy D J bolln an and the Min gerotti brothers herbert hopes J H shibley and others owning property near hatfield avenue petitioned the council for the extension of the water system into that locality and the communication was referred to the w ater committee with power to act A communication was read from the eureka miners union asking for a donation to be used to the labor day eel eb ration upon motion of councilman russell the union was given 25 and a warrant was ordered drawn for he same ill houtz was granted a rebate of 25 80 on liquor license george eber s petition for 3 00 on license on pool hill was tabled bills to the amount of 13 were ordered paid the city pay roll for july took 50 of this amount master frank reported the collect in of 80 for the month of july ehe water u ed during that time cowlie city ma 0 city recorder A J reported the collect bioti of n liquor licen and on general licenses city treasurer john morley s report was submitted and showed that on july 1 1 tl e iash balance was 2506 48 the receipts for the month 1259 W an 1 the disbursements 42 leavin 11 alance of 1997 36 on august st P an street supervisor rei ort ed the on of 1134 from poll taxes and the expenditure of 67 on street work citi justice dewar s report showed that 66 had been collected in fines d irin the month of july the contract from the mammoth mining company providing for the furnishing of eureka city with water was submitted and read there were several clauses in the contract which did not look good to the city officers ana it was sent back for correction
