L ANDERSON It is fall The foliage Is a mixture of yellows and bronze and russet leaves are gently nudging one another as they fall from the trees The air is balmy and all Is serene Last summer seems a part of an almost distant past next summer even a further distance away But of course that Is an Illusion Last summer maY maybe be only a memory but It Is of next summer that w we e should be thinking for It Is nearer than w we realize far nearer actually than the one that Is past when we know how fleeting time Is and the many tasks that need doing In a few weeks time snow will cover the ground another few weeks and the daffodils will herald spring and only a few weeks after that we will find our stake once more in the midst of helping to produce another Mormon Miracle Pageant Each August in Edinburgh Scotland they have a great music and drama festival to which thousands of visitors come come from all over the world Such fame Is not lightly earned and anda a year Is spent by the people of Edinburgh In getting ready for forthe forthe fJ the festival i Marion Marlon McNeil McNell says One of the most cherished traditions of Scotland Is the generous hospitality of its folks though short on cash they are rich In kindness What people had they sh shared red freely and for the passing stranger an open door a seat at atthe atthe atthe the fire and a share in whatever food and drink the house could offer Traditions endure long in Scotland and much of this old spirit coupled with the national pride In doing a job well colors the attitude of those preparing for the great influx of visitors expected for the festival and Edinburgh is poised for action t Much hard work and thoughts of loving hospitality go Into this business of preparing for the festival Let us here In Sanpete South Stake take a leaf out of their book and let us too do things In a grand manner and each of of us dedicate out own time labor and talents as we get r houses in order for OUR festival The Mormon Miracle Pageant As last year the labors of dedicated craftsmen will be reflected in so many ways In the rehearsals that go on night after night the platoons of gifted seamstresses of the stake at work making more costumes In the incomparable turf of the sloping lawns of temple hill in the kitchen quarters of our hom homes s that our guests may be fed whether our own personal friends or strangers in our midst in raising fund-raising programs and projects In 1970 Mrs Macksene S S. S Rux became the director of our pageant and she Is giving her all in time and talents Because of her background in the theater and allied arts she can give incomparable direction in every facet of the pageant staging costumes acting etc She demands perfection and gets it Be Because Because Because Be- Be cause of her sensitive nature and devotion to moral principles and her Latter-day Latter Saint heritage and background she puts Into the production great spirituality She is a woman of great vision and faith who sees In our valley a spiritual sanctuary of the world I 1 believe she says every soul is in quest of a great spiritual experience and this can be found in the pageant I believe It can be a great missionary vehicle for the Church Perfection In every detail from housing to food to traffic as well welt as the pageant should be our goal and every single o one one e of ofus ofus ofus us in this stake should be concerned that we have done our our bit bitto bitto bitto to achieve this perfection It Is OUR PAGEANT I Let us get In Involved in- in As in a crack regiment or a crack ship as In any great achievement It Is the teamwork of all workIng in loving cooperation cooperation cooperation tion in unselfish devotion and dedication to The Miracle it should be in the thoughts and actions of every man woman and child In our stake for In what better manner can we all become becom missionaries Let us all surround Sister Rux In supporting the pageant with every means at our command When our beautiful temple was built by the handful of people who lived here it was by united effort devotion work and GIVING literally giving all the means they had There was no shirking no laying laving down on the Job no complaining Getting the temple built was the supreme purpose in their lives We too have a great opportunity a greater chance than than they knew to make that same sam beautiful Manti Mantl Temple Temp e on onit's onit's onit's its it's top hill-top pedestal as the pageant is presented on the slopes pes a great missionary in bringing the gospel to many thousands of people and In strengthening the testimony of members and In giving both the young and the old people of our stake a golden opportunity for a spiritual Involvement and achievement nt Sister Rux devoted most of her time her thought her talent and devotion from the moment the 1969 pageant closed to adapting the lovely Mormon Miracle story written by Grace Johnson to pageant form to the taping of music and sound to turn out the wonderful production of last year Since the 1970 pageant closed her only thought has been the perfecting of an almost perfect production of getting more prepared for a greater 1971 pageant It is our responsibility our glad privilege and maybe a sacred trust to do our part each one of us should become Involved involved involved In- In in the pageant Let us support Mrs Rux whose coming toy to tor tous y r us Is part of the Miracle and see the vision she has opened to our viewing A great deal more must be done that Includes work money support of projects Let us contribute all three remembering ring that great things are not accomplished lightly We are ALL needed VOLUNTEER |
