Some of the advanced students may soon be learning to play oboes and bass clarinets, too. Right now, Mr. Durant is setting up the basis of a program which he hopes to see. continued into, the high . school. If continued, this program could lead to a strong high school band which could travel and play all over the state. To instill such interest, Mr. Durant recently took the 6th grade band members to hear the band at the State Fair. Later on in the year, he is hoping to take interested children to hear the Utah State Symphony and to attend various musical events at , the University. Parent reaction so far has been pretty good, Mr. Durant observed; he looks forward to continued interest and involvement. The foundations for a good music program in Park City are being laid. Mr. Durant is ready to give all that he can to make the program succeed and grow. All he needs is the communitys full support.
