Ted Armengol consumed the major portion of the Commissions September 11th meeting. Conditional Use Permit Dispute Mr. Armengol appeared before the Commission in application for a conditional use permit for his Ted Armengol and Associates business office, located at 627 Park Avenue. At a previous meeting, the Commission had approved a business license for Mr. firm and sent it on to the City Council. The Council decided that a conditional use permit would be needed before the license could be granted and so sent the application back to the Planning Commission. Ar-meng- Zoning Cited Mr. Armengols office was for- merly the Summit Engineering Companys office and it was originally determined by the Planning Commission that a conditional use permit was not needed. However, upon reconsideration last Thursday, the Commission was of the opinion that zoning or- dinances prohibited the granting of the permit. Mr. Armengol was perturbed, to say tiie least. Informal Approval Mr. Armengol said that after the Commission meeting at which his business license was approved, he approached a member of the Commission and inquired as to what he should do next. He stated that the member advised him that the license had to be forwarded to the City Council for final approval, but that he (Mr. Armengol) could proceed with plans to modify the office. Mr. Armengol asked, Why was I encouraged to go ahead. I have put an awful lot of money into the building on the recommendation of the Commission. He further declared, Im going to go ahead and open the office and see what the law has to say. At the suggestion of Commissioner Jack Green, the matter was tabled pending further investigation of the facts. Permit Granted The following day, it was learned that the Commission had come to a decision favoring Mr. Armengol and that it was anticipated that his right to do business at the Park Avenue location would be validated by the City Council at their September 19th meeting. Other Business Licenses & Conditional Use Permits Also appearing before the Planning Commission was Mr. Terry Jannott, proprietor of the Robbers Roost Restaurant, which is under construction. Mr. Jannott was granted a business license and a beer license. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Irvine received approval for a conditional use permit and a business license for their Carrousel nightly rental in Thaynes Canyon. BOB THEOBALDS Ski PfeSCQSOn Conditioning Program For The Recreational Skier Skiing, as any strenuous activity, requires physical conditioning. If you're not in good shape before skiing begins in November, it will take several weeks before you feel physically comfortable and mentally confident on your skis. But, even more important, the early season is the time most likely for pulled hamstrings, stretched ligaments, muscle cramps, and many other minor injuries that may hamper your skiing all year long. The activities in this ski conditioning program are designed to STRETCH-- STRENGTHENand COORDINATE the particular skiing parts of the body.. .assuring greater skiing safety and facilitating higher individual skiing proficiency.
