Show Page The National Enterprise, August 31, 1977 thirty-si- x THE HEALTH CARE PLAN YOUR EMPLOYEES WILL BE ASKING FOR employees like Tom Lemmon, Lead Fleet Service for Western Airlines, Local 2707. Tom and his wife, Diane, have been members of Family Health Program since December 1976. With three children and one on the way, the Lemmons are concerned about the availability of health care. We saw how convenient FHP is when our son had to see the pediatrician to have stitches removed and my wife had to see her doctor for an eye infection. It was all handled during the same visit to the center . . . even had a prescription filled. All the services were prepaid and no claims forms. FHP has found that employees are happier, healthier and spend less sick time away from work when they belong to a Health Maintenance Organization. . . . FHP Now Federally Qualified Family Health Program is proud to announce that it has recently received Federal Qualification as a Health Maintenance Organization from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. It is one of the first larger HMOs in the United States to receive this status. Federal approval applies to FHPs two medical centers in Salt Lake City, the six centers in Southern California and the one center on the Island of Guam. FHP serves more than 100,000 members total 16,000 in Salt Lake City. With the most recent direct support of the HMG movement by the Secretary of HEW, Mr. Califano, and the Undersecretary of HEW, Mr. Champion, plus President Carters declaration for a National Health Care System, we see a bright future for the HMO concept. FHP is in the forefront of this major effort to solve the problems of escalating health care costs through rational management of health care delivery. The significance of the HMO qualification is that the organization has met certain strict financial and management criteria. The Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 requires that all employers with 25 or more employees, if approached by a qualified HMO, must offer their employees the option of joining the HMO as an alternative to the existing health program currently being offered by the employer. be well worth your while and very healthy for you and your employees to look into Family Health Program.
