Besson. After graduation from High School in Leavenworth, Kansas, General Bessun entered the U.S. Mli- tary Academy in July 1928. Upon graduation he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in June 1932. HIS F IRST assignment was assistant tc the District Engineer, Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he served until 1934. General Besson then beca me a student officer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and in 1935 received his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from that institution. After graduating from The Engineer School, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he was assigned to the Office of the District Engineer,.
