Show The Cows Never Leave The Corral . . . Except! One of the most modern in the area is dairy set-uowned by Carl Swainston, a local boy who became an air force pilot, only to come back to the farm. The Swainston farm is located north of Preston and was purchased from George C. Peterson about six years ago. In addition, Carl runs a 500 acre dry farm near Treasureton. At the present time, Carl has a herd of 65 cows and aside from the times they broke out of the feed yard,' they have never been out of the feed lot. Carl sells his Grade A milk to Heber Valley Dairy. The set-uwhich Carl ps p, i I "sorta designed" himself, has individual loafing stalls for each of the cows and the man ger is located alone the cov ered hay barn just across the concreted corral. The man ger is covered to give protec tion irom tne weather. However, Carl said that he is planning some pasture ar ea for the cows to use occa sionallv. Most of the feed is raised on the Swainston farms "with the exception of a little bar lev." Mr. Swainston said that he plans to keep the herd a about 65 milkinir cows so tha he can handle the operation by himself, with the help of a hired boy and his wife Jul le.
