First off on Jan. 19, the Girl's Basketball team played Wasatch, at the Union gym flora. The J. V. beat with a score of 35-1but the Varsity lost 62-3The wrestlers had a great victory over Grantsville last Thursday, January 20, with a score of . Last Friday the Boy's Basketball team played Intermountain with a score of J. V. 1 and Varsity 80-6Last Friday and Saturday the Drama went to Provo and attended a Cougar Classic Forensic Meet. Tonight the Girls Basketball team will play Grantsville here. The J. V. starts at 5:45 and the Varsity at 7:00. Tomorrow night the wrestlers will 7. On Saturday the drama will go to a foresnics meet at Alpine. Behind the torrid scoring of Brad Denver, who hit for a total of 32 points Friday evening, the Union Cougars upset the favored Intermountain basketball team, to the tune of 80 to 66. This is only the second defeat for Intermountain this year, as they were rated in state Class AA standings. Following the game Coach Patterson of Union reported that this was the best team effort for the Cougars this year. It Undefeated UBEC ball team Longhorns schedule lists host Tabby It was reported this week that the UBEC Basketball game scheduled for Monday January 31 at Union high school has been changed to the Ft Duchesne Community Building. The game will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 5 the team will play the USU Jr. Varsity teaip at Logan beginning at 5 p.m. This game will preceed the game between USU and the University of California Santa Barbara. Scheduled for Saturday, February 12 the UBEC team will again take on the USU Jr. Varsity team at the Ft Duchesne Community building. The game will begin at 7 p.m. The Longhorns prepare for their fourth game in league competition this week, sporting a 0 league record. They host Tabiona tomorrow night at home. The Longhorns defeated Green River High scorer for Friday night Altamont was sophomore Mickey Field-sle-d with 28 points. Senior Mack Fieldsted had 18, Bruce Thacker had 14. and Glenn Lamb scored a basket and 8 of 8 free throws for a total of 12 points. The Longhorns led the entire game, retaining a strong lead each quarter. They made 19 of 28 free throws. 3-- 73-6- was a close game all of the way, ahowing a one point deficit for Union at the beginning of the fourth quarter. But the Cougars put the lid on the bucket for Intermountain, holding them to 12 points for the final period, while the Union squad dumped through 27 points to give win. them a Robert Pachl also participated in the scoring effort, collecting 16 points. Because of the close, hard-fouggame, feelings were apparantly high. As the final buzzer sounded, fists began to fly on the court, and it took several minutes to clear the floor. A Union cheerleader was also accosted in the rest room, by a group of girls from Intermountain and was roughed up before she got away. Hamilton, Riverton, president of the Utah Farm Bureau Federation and long-tim- e leader in farm and business to the affairs in Utah, has been board of directors of the American Farm Bureau Federation. Hamilton, a Salt Lake county fanner, board. His will serve on a took place at the recent AFBF annual meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, attended by more than 400 Utah ranchers and farmers. Hamilton served as voting delegate from Utah at the national meeting, along with UFBF vice president Jerold N. Johnson of Aurora.
