Miller, president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, is among 20 national leaders of veterans and education organizations selected to serve on the 1974 National Awards Jury of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Pa. Freedoms Foundation president, Reed Harris, said that Mrs. Miller and other panel members will devote five days at the Foundation's national headquarters in historic Valley Forge where they will judge thousands of nominations submitted for recognition in the Foundation's 26th National Awards Program. The jury will commence judging material on December! 2 and end its work December civic, patriotic, 6. The results of the 1974 National Awards Jury will be announced on Washinton's Birthday, February 22, 1975, when about 40 top recipients will be invited to receive principal awards at a special ceremony in 'Valley Forge. All other awards will be presented at local programs in various parts of the country after the Washington Birthday ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Morrill Labrum, Springville, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Labrum last week. Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Bellon and Mr .and Mrs. George Mangan were Provo visitors November 15. They also went to the Temple. e Mrs. Clem Labrum and Mrs. Larry Labrum and son went to Salt Lake City where Mrs. Larry Labrum flew to Tucson Arizona to visit her parents. Mrs. Clista Angus went to St. George last week to visit her sister and brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Cedi MitchelL e Mrs. Ludlia Peterson, Snowflake, Ariz., is visiting with her daugher, Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Wilkins. Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Wilkins spent the weekend in Salt Lake visiting Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Wilkins. They heard Doyle sing with the Deseret Male Choir. Steven Yack was home from College for the weekend. e Mrs. Minnie Morrill and Mrs. Larry Friendship Club was entertained on Wednesday evening, November 13th at the home of Venla Gee. There were 11 present members and one past member, Mrs. Ruth Harris Ward who was a guest of Mrs. Myrtis Buckalew. A luncheon was served and the group spent the evening playing progressive bingo. Monday bridge club held Mrs. Clair Larsen entertained the Monday Bridge Club November 18. A dessert luncheon was served and the afternoon was spent playing bridge. The prizes were won by Mrs. Richard Adams, Mrs. Lora Killian and Mrs. Lawrell Jensen. club held Mrs. Howard Gilbert was hostess for the Neighborhood Sewing Club held November 13. Refreshments were served to 12 members. The evening was spent doing hand work and visiting. They took a three and a half hour boat trip down the river in a big boat with a paddle. The waier was omy four feel deep so they had to navigate to keep from running a ground. At the end of the run they enjoyed a picnic. Mrs. Donna Webber, Belmont, Calif., is visiting with her mother, Mrs. Naoma Benson. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gibson and family went to Salt Lake to attend the wedding of their daughter, Darla and Dave Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Larsen were business visitors in Salt Lake last week. Mrs. Glen Alexander spent the weekend in Moab visiting with Mr. and Alexander, who is employed there. Pumpkin Chiffon Pie In the top half of a double boiler add, 3 cup sugar; 2 tbs. corn starch; 2 cups canned milk; 2 cups canned pumpkin; z tsp. cinnamon, Vi tsp. ginger; 'A tsp. salt; and V tsp. cloves. Mix well and cook for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and add 2 beaten egg yolks then cook five minutes longer. Put egg whites in a small mixing bowl and put in refrigerator to keep cooL Let cooked mixture partially cool, stirring occasionally, then fold in egg whites whipped until stiff. Garnish with slivered nuts, coconut or whipping cream. Economic Boiled Cake Bring to a boil in medium pan: 1 cup sugar 1 tbs. lard or shortening 2 Vz cups of water Vi pkg. raisins walnuts 1 tsp. cin., nutmeg A tsp. cloves 2 tbs. cocoa Remove and cool, then add, 2 cups sifted flour 1 tsp. soda, and 2 tsp. baking powder Put in greased and floured baking pan and bake in 350 degree oven for ' hour (30 min). Christy Thompson, daughter of Mr. of Thompson, and Mrs. Charles Roosevelt, is a member of the Culver Wind Stockton College Symphonic Ensemble. orchestra, under the The direction of Dr. A. Wesley Tower, professor of music, performs four major concerts each year at the college, and also plays music for special convocations and assemblies. Miss Thompson is a senior majoring in art and history and political science and is the president of the college's Student Parliament. She has served the college as a counselor during freshman orientation and as vice president of her residency. She has had several pieces of her work on display at student art shows at Culver-Stockto- Myton Ward choir presents an evening of music On Friday November 22, beginning at 8 the Myton Ward Choir will present an evening of specially prepared musical numbers for the entire family. Vocal solos, instrumental, group numbers, and the Union high school ensemble group will be featured. The program will be held in the Myton Ward Chapel. WED Hi Bridge Club November IN PROVO TEMPLE RITES The former Leah Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred G. Cook, of Roosevelt, and Brent Bastian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Bastian of Neola, were married October 9, during a ceremony in the Provo LDS Temple. A wedding reception at the Ballard Ward Chapel was held October 11 and the bride greeted her guests in a lace floor length gown with an empire waist line and long sleeves with a lace ruffle around a long train. She carried a bouquet of light pink carnations and dark pink roses. Elaine Atwood, sister of the bride, served as Matron of Honor. She wore a floor length hot pink gown with a collar and pearl buttons down the bodice. Bridesmaids were, Donna Davis, Dawn and DeAnn Smith, Jerri Heaton Christensen, a sister of the groom. Their Hi dresses were made the same as the Matron of Honor, except, their colors were green, gold, yellow and orange. All HospilaliijNotes -- the misses carried one white rose with ribbons. The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom wore dresses of printed material with fall colors and wore pink carnation corsages. Max Cook, brother of the bride, and Tommy Collins served as best man. Paul Atwood, Elvin Kettle, Mark Kettle and Stanley Womack served as ushers. Those in charge of gifts were: Marlene Bolton, Colleen Gardner, Connie Duncan, and Karen Brough. Carrying the gifts were Shelly Bastian, Sherri Labrum, Debra Kettle and Donna Murphy. Sharon Bastian sat at the gift book. Those helping serve the refreshments were, Kay Parrish, Don and Gordon Bastian, Davis Wayne, Chris Heaton and Davis Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parrish and Mr. and Mrs. Verdin Heaton helped in the kitchen. The wedding cake was three tiers high, each tier separated by pillars. It was decorated with pink and white roses entwined in white lace work. The bride chose for her going away ensemble a plum colored pant suit with white accessories.
