Show The Paper That Dares To Take A Stand April 17, 1975 The Utah the United States requested an urgent meeting of the Security Council to consider the serious situation created by the deliberate attacks of the Hanoi Regime on U.S. Naval vessels in international waters. When the Council convened on August 5 (next day) the U.S. Representative, Ambassador Adlai Stevenson, described the facts of these attacks...." IV. After hearing the made charges by the United States and the rebuttal presented by North Vietnam and other members of the Security Council, the meeting was adjourned to August 7. when action in the matter was to be decided. ON THAT VERY DAY, AUGUST 7. the Joint Session of Congress was hastily convened and without any proof whatever than an attack had been made on our destroyers or that any damage had been incurred, the Congress voted the Tonkin Gulf Resolution and plunged this nation into the Vietnam War. SCOOP OF THE CENTURY This is the scoop of the century, and in view of the turmoil in Washington during the past year, which may have as one of its purposes the objective of quieting the continuing repercussions from that unexplained war, perhaps we should exert every effort to spread this information and to force Congress to face up to the facts, to divert their attention from the Watergate nonsense, and to obtain facts which should bring a halt to American involvement in foreign wars and prevent further destruction of American youth such as we have witnessed in this century. We can begin to campaign to force Congress to review the whole Vietnam situation and they might very well begin with an interrogation of Senator Russell Long of Louisians, who was one of the two Senate Representatives to the United Nations at the time the action was pending. Did he know of our charges pending in the United Nations from August 4 to August 7. 1964? If he did not know, why not? If he did know, why did he not warn the Joint Session of Congress on August 7 that the charges made by the United States itself had been officially laid before the Security Council and that on the day the Joint Session of Congress was declaring war through . the Tonkin Gulf Resolution, the Security Council was holding its final hearing on the matter? This situation imposes a frightful burden on the Congress of the United States and on Senator Long to face squarely the facts of the proceedings in the Security Council on that day and to present these facts to the public, in the interest of the youth whose lives are at the disposal of irresponsible men in government. OH! WOE! WOE! Shortly alter the Tonkin Gulf Resolution hud been adopted, the Congress became aware and statements in the Congressional Record plainly reveal this fact that there had been no attack on the U.S. destroyers in Tonkin Government had needed Gulf. an excuse to continue the war, which had been raging for ten ears, and the Tonkin Gulf Resolution became the fraudulent excuse. The "dire peril" to the United States will be increased immeasurably by the confirmation of Nelson Rockefeller as Vice President which was made possible by passage of the 25th Amendment with the clear objective of his speedy ascent into the Presidency of the United States. We have submitted tamely to this outrage, unaware that the nations whose military we were building up were gradually turning against us and voting against us in the United Nations. This chilling fact was plainly revealed when the United Nations voted against us 89 to 8. with 38 abstentions, on recognition of the Palestine Liberation Organization. Fortunately, the old coin is still considered legal tender. If you take a $1000 face value bag to your bank or to the Federal Reserve, they will accept it at face value only. The official position of the U.S. Government is that silver quarters are still only worth a quarter.
