Frequently, however, these letters are much too long for us to use. For this reason, we are adopting the following policy: 1. Letters To The Editor should be typed (double-spaceor written legibly on one side of an 816x11 sheet of paper. 2. We will publish these letters regularly as space permits. We appreciate the fact that some subjects require more length. In such instances they should be submitted as News Articles and will be subject to our regular editorial policies and current needs. News items Must Be Fully Documented. We want to print ONLY THE TRUTH! Many thanks. THE EDITOR Sorry we cannot print your requests for funds. Z Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty Corinthians 3:17 WHERE THERES SMOKE - A small amount of fury has been raised by small people opposing the recall movement and was expected. We believe their tempest in a teapot is based upon emotion and not real Americanism or concern for the rights of the people. This is not anything new or irresponsible but is only bringing to Utah the same kind of recall law that is in effect in Arizona, California, Nevada and Idaho. Just because they have a recall does not make it necessary for us to have the same. But common sense tells us that in the world today in every other field of activity men are responsible for their actions. They are held accountable for the success or failure of the activities which they direct. An error will bring a reprimand, a serious error and they may be dismissed. As a result each man does his best to please his employer, the management of his department or company. All elected and appointed officials in government are supposed to be working for the people. They receive their authority to act from the people and the people do have a right to recall them from their assignments for serious errors of omission and commission. Any other conclusion would deny the basic principles of Americanism. All authority for our public officials to act comes from the people. As a matter of serious consideration we wonder what those people who oppose the recall act want to do that they do not want to be responsible for!!! We urge your dedicated support of the recall movement that the people may be secure in their belief that their elected officials are really working FOR them. THEIR THEIR - POLITICIANS THE PRESS WILL! The whole program was a disaster. In many cases it has interferred with indigenous production. It has enriched many foreign officials of government and individuals in our own country. Foreign aid has provided yachts, palaces, private planes and many forms of luxury for dictators in many d lands. Why our people should be taxed to provide this for our enemies is difficult to understand. Not to feed starving people seems cruel and heartless, but when it results in the protection of rats and sacred cows and enables poverty-stricke- n countries to spend their own resources developing nuclear weapons, it seems to be worse than useless. Moreover, sending food to overpopulated countries accomplishes little. It encourages higher birth rates that aggravate the problem more and more. This problem is also apparent in our own country. Responsible couples limit the size of their families to the number of children they can care for adequately. Their reward is to be taxed to provide for the children of less responsible couples. Many of them would prefer to have larger families themselves rather than to be taxed to provide for the children of the irresponsible. This presents a problem which society will have to solve or the more efficient, more constructive and abler among us will be crushed by taxation imposed for the benefit of our less productive citizens. BYPASS CONGRESS??? Subscription Weekly , No one can say how much foreign aid has cost and will continue to cost. A very conservative estimate would place the total sum, interest and principal, at two or three times the original outlay of $197 billion. To have so encumbered ourselves was an act of great stupidity. Many of the countries receiving this aid are among our most active enemies. J that interest charges over that period have cost the American people at least as much as the principal sum of the debt. Moreover, such charges are continuing. Since there is no present indication that the national debt will ever be paid, presumably these interest charges of about $13 billion a year will run in perpetuity or until the national debt is destroyed Sirs: WILL! NEIGHBORS A special report in the U.S. Newt & World Report , January 20, 1975 places the total foreign aid expenditures of our country at $197 billion. Aid has been given to 140 nations. This sum represents about 40 percent of the national debt. Since interest charges on that debt amount to about $33 billion a year, the foreign aid portion of it is costing the American people, in interest charges, over $13 billion a year. Foreign aid began after World War II about 30 years ago and has continued down to the present time. It is probable PAGING DR. BETER!
