My heart warms and my spirit soars when I contemplate one of the brightest chapters in the new birth of freedom. Our founding fathers, founders of this nation, their struggles, their writings, their oratory, their sacrifices during seven long years of war against the greatest power then on the earth. They purchased for us by their sweat, blood, and tears, the Constitution and Independence. By reason of. this nation became the grandest and most glorious on the earth. Now let us mourn and let us weep. The saddest chapter in our history is being written; only a few small lights show the way to freedom. Neither the Church nor the school properly teach the rights of Civil Liberty. The people do not know their right of civil liberty, in ecclesiastical, educational, social, or economic fields. They do not fully know the limitations of power of the officials of government, nor the proper role of government. Is it any wonder that the people are ignorant, exploited and enslaved? That we are spurned the world over? That crime is at an all time high and our people have lost faith and regard for government? of the Officers servants people: you violate your oath of office and Constitutional civil rights of the people. There has been strenuous for a 1 2 person jury and all civil rights during this duration. The preliminary court hearing herewith is a very short version of the actual. It provides only some ideas of the stormy conditions of this case. (Rabid froth) My friends helping me. Norman Giles and James Bean produced a masterful motion for this case, motion for a jury and for the 1 2 men to right a FORCE My beautiful motorcycle had remained for two summers at my sons place in Salt Lake valley. On January 16. 19741 took our car and went and brought it to Philgas in Delta for lube and service. A borrowed trailer served to transport the cycle. On the way I found that the electric connection on the trailer would not work with the one on the car. Having started home in daylight and avoiding the busy roads, proceeded past Eureka and arrived in the desert in the middle of nowhere.' There by the roadside lurking in the darkness, in a patrol car. were the patrolman and deputy. Were they locked in each others arms? Ask them. After my car passed them they turned and followed, lights on top flashing first blue and then red. Traveling slowly I stopped and waited for them. When they approached me. violated my constitutional-civi- l rights by requiring my driver's license, the auto registration, and insurance service .card, presented me a citation for not having lights on the back end of the trailer. There were reflectors on the trailer and six lights on the back of the car that were plainly visible. I told them then, and later told John Rogers at the capital the same, that 1 strenuously objected TO YOU GENTLEMEN, waiting in a concealed place or in the darkness or with radar, station themselves at a base of a viaduct or hill to arrest for petty infractions, people who are paying the taxes and endeavoring to be citizens. It was an unintentional mistake without evil intent. They should stay in the open and be law-abidi- helpful when people ng have problems, not be vindictive, seeking fines for revenue from an already overburdened public. That I favored the officers using the utmost in stealth and wisdom to arrest the murders, rapists, traffickers of drugs and all criminals, to bring them to justice and punishment they deserve. This amounts to a good and real labor, not seek for petty fines from an honorable population. It is easy to catch someone violating speed by miles an hour. You office holders, do you not 5-- 10 understand some great truths that it is not the business or concern of the towns.- counties, or states in case I collide with someone and damage that someone or that someone collides with me because of my fault? I then would owe reparations to that, someone and not to any town, county, state or nation! Neither do states have any constitutional right to make any SO CALLED LAW to force you or me to buy insurance. THAT IS. NOT THEIR BUSINESS. There came in the mail a letter of dismissal. Dear Mr. Adams: Due to the delay in your case now before the court of this county, and also to the difficulty in getting witnesses on certain dates, this court has decided to dismiss the charges against you. Hoping this is satisfactory with you. Signed Judge Jay Chatterton. Gentlemen: Great, what flimsy reasoning. You were beaten on every count. That is a comedy. You have suffered a smarting and humiliating defeat at the hands and minds of laymen who know their rights and will defend them at all costs. Right or wrong, the courts will be forced to prove the case. Gentlemen: Thanks kindly for the dismisal. 1 am, however, a bit disappointed not being to witness the privileged magnificance of your court in session. Further, other reasons such as sea passage through the Malacca Straits off Indonesia, oil resources throughout Asia, trade with Japan and other nations, argue strongly for a continued and visible U.S. presence in the Asia Pacific area. The United States should now take steps to obtain a formal agreement securing the status of Taiwan. Continued U.S. military presence on Taiwan and diplomatic relations with the Republic of China are essential if our declining credibility is to be maintained in the Asia Pacific area. |
