Show pTfTUST" KU-Am, Centerville monument project to honor pioneers f.f ; -- w - y y Centerville is well on its way to having its own sculpture to honor the Centerville pioneers. For the past year the Sons of the Utah Pioneers have headed a drive to collect money for the statue. The statue will be placed in Founders Park on Main Street on a five-fohigh base. In December enough money had been raised to pay D.J. Bawden $20,000 to start the first phase of the Centerville Pioneer Monument. That first phase should be completed in March. The next step will be to make a mold of the sculpture and to cast it in bronze. k - Ov ' f : ' f i : 1 v ot RANDY J. BENSON lv ; ', If j ' t, To date nearly $50,000 has been of raised. That is over two-thirthe money which is needed for the monument. If all the money is raised by April 10, the monument be dedicated during will Centervilles 1994 July 4 celebration. Individuals, families and businesses have all contributed. Centerville Jr. High also has a collection box for student donations. PARKER 10 honored with Silver Beaver Award The Great Salt Lake Council ot the Boys Scouts of America will be lecogni.-in- g 55 individuals with the Silver Beaver Award on Tuesday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bountiful Regional Center. Among those being honored are 10 from south Davis County. Those being honored from south Daws County include: Randy J. Benson, Henry W. Bredthauer, Don V. Christensen, Richard B. Hill. Kein R. Murray, Claude R. Snow, David P. Wilding, all of Bountiful; Robert K. Parker, Centerville; Paul B. Bredthauer, Farmington, and Richard E. Kerr, Jr., Kaysville. The Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to boyhood was authorized by the Boys Scouts of America in 1932. It is the highest recognition which may be made by the local council. Those eligible to be considered for nomination for the award are registered scouters with impressive records of outstanding service in scouting, church and community. Nominations are made by a special committee after careful study and review of the records of hundreds of worthy candidates, followed by approval of key council officers.
