Jensen, North Salt Lake Planning Commission Chairman, has announced his intention to run for city council. Mr. Jensen has been a manager and administer in prominent high tech manufacturing firms since 1962. He is presently employed by KWM Electronics, West Jordan, as manufacturing manager. In 1988 he was appointed to the Salt Lake Planning Commission by Mayor Simmons. He was elected chairman of the Commission in 1991, and serves there still. In 1990 he was appointed to the Utah State Water Quality Board by Governor North Bangerter. He was by Governor Leavitt in 1993. His present term will expire in 1995. Since his appointment to the planning commission five years ago, he has maintained a close association with all branches of city government. He is the primary author of the initial draft of the North Salt Lake General Plan (Master Plan). This, together with his near perfect attendance at both council meetings and planning a broad of NSL city meetings has given him understanding uy Mow! BeatThe Push! government and how it operates. Mr. Jensen is a fiscal conservative who believes in limiting the size of government and minimizing taxes. He believes that government should focus only on those things that it does well, and things that cannot be done effectively by others. In areas where government must be involved it should strive to become as effective and efficient as it can possibly be. Mr. Jensens stated objectives are: Control our rate of residential growth at a level that is fair to developers but will not our environment degrade or endanger our lifestyle. Explore ways to entice new business and encourage economic growth. Control expenditures so that a proper level of services can be maintained with a minimum tax burden. We expect and deserve a better display of dignity and decorum from our city council. Kay and his wife Evelyn have been citizens of North Salt Lake City since 1976. They are the parents of eight children, all grown, and 17 great grandchildren. They are prominent in local church, civic and social affairs. A resident of West Bountiful for a total of 21 years, Tingey desires the opportunity for personal involvement in affairs that affect the community. Tingey is a graduate of Viewmont High School and is presently the works public superintendent for the city of North Salt Lake. He has had 14 years of practical experience in public works. He has also been the administrative director of animal control for Woods Cross and North Salt Lake cities for the past 13 years. Tingey played a major role in the upgrading of the North Salt Lake City water system, was involved in the creation of the storm drain master plan, and has spearheaded many major public works projects there. He has worked closely with the budgeting process and administrative procedures in city government. He would bring a "hands on approach to city government. Tingey has previously served West Bountiful on the water system FROM A-- following his retirement from 3 and the Utah Advisory Council on Intergovernmental Relations. He also serves as a member of the Davis County Centennial Committee, the Ad Hoc Review Committee of the South Davis Fire District, and a county and state delegate for the Utah Republican The Bountiful Area improvement committee, and was an active committee member on the public utilities section of the new West Bountiful City Master Plan.
