In the win over Bountiful, Melanie Miller scored the in the last 15 game-winn- er minutes of regulation to lift Davis into the crowded league penthouse. Her score capped a defen- saw sive battle which Bountiful withstand 22 shots on goal by Davis, while the Lady Darts weathered 14 shots by the Lady Braves. They are good and were good. It could have gone either way, said Bountiful coach Dave Wigham. For whatever reason, we didnt play up to our capabilities until they scored. The Lady Leopards swept the Lady Wildcats in two straight games. Woods Cross coach Chris Adams was not at all pleased with her teams performance. It was really embarrassing. Nobody played well, our offense that is usually really good was not even there. We did block well but that is it. The first game began with both teams not willing to give into the other. First the Cats would start a rally, then the Leopards. At one point in the first game the Wildcats led 10-- 5 and let East back into the match, and after that the Lady Leopards took over. During that initial spurt the Cats were led by Jody Briscoe and April Taylor with some great blocks that would try to keep the rally going. East High countered with their sister combination Alberta and Kathy Fuailemaa. Alberta is a senior and showed why her leadership is so valuable to the Leopards. Her serve was devastating and passing REGION CATF1GHT: East outlasted Woods Cross Tuesday afternoon in the Region 7 open- er for both schools. kept the Wildcats on their heels. Kathy, a freshman, is still learning what she can do for her team. In the second game East would not let the Cats even get a foothold . With the game winding down Fay Kuna sealed the fate of the Wildcats with a monster spike that took the wind out of the Lady Cats sails. East High head coach Kathy Butler was excited about the win. We started slow, but we kept working as a team. We are a good comeback team, and we dont emphasize the individuals, its the team that wins. The one thing that Woods Cross could do that no other team could is block Alberta. No one has been able to stop her serves and spikes and Woods Cross did. Woods Cross returned to action Thursday at West. (Results were not available at press time.) REGION 2: The entire league was idle Tuesday, but resumed play Thursday.
