As Bountiful-Uta- h residents, we have reasons to rejoice, says Chairman Elaine S. McKay. Were a diverse non-prof- citizenry with different opinions but weve discovered that most of us hold a rake or shovel in much the same way and each of us has something we can give to our city and to one another. e The Gift Committee promoted a celebration by presenting a question. News city-wid- articles, letters, hand-out- public s, announcements, and a flyer sent in the utility mailing asked, What are you giving to Bountiful for her birthday? Churches, schools, businesses, community Lovell & Donna Petersen Bountiful Utah Aui Chairmen organizations and private citizens responded. The result is an estimated $400,000 worth of gifts ranging from poetry, paintings, and beautification Birthday Parties, to a concerned citizens organization, new public park facilities, a historic log cabin, a school fence, and repainting of fire hydrants. Sterling E. Beesley, Division Manager of GIVINGSOMETHING MOR (Motivators, organizers. Recorders) reported 5,270 gifts made by indivdiuals. In addition, Tom Manager of Crosby, Division BAC GIVINGSOMETHING (Bountiful Action Committee), continues to receive group-gif- t Birthday reports of on-goi- Parties. Almost all GIVINGSOMETHING Areas and many neighborhoods have with some sponsoring completed group-gift- s, several. Vacant lots, parkways, and other private and public properties have shown improvement. Volunteers have joined with Bountiful City in several group projects. Private contractors, landscapers, and other businesses have given equipment, personnel, and other resources. Some of the events and experiences would have happened anyway, says McKay. But Bountifuls Centennial year gave us reason to focus upon doing small acts of kindness and great acts of service for one another. According to McKay, the question we now can ask ourselves is simply, What are we giving Bountiful? The group will delet Birthday from its name and remain The Bountiful Gift Committee. Plans are underway for a Celebration of Bountiful Gifts. That event will honor all who have given or are in the process of completing gifts.
