Admission: Adults $3.00 Carbon County Fairgrounds Parade of cars down Price Main St. at Nine at Wiseman money tops The Nine Mile NINE MILE Rodeo, held halfway between Wellington and Myton, provided local cowboys with opportunities to buck for the money Saturday and Sunday. Milt Wiseman, Wellington, was the top moneywinner, gamering $444 for two first place finishes in team roping. Wiseman, a truck driver for Savage Brothers, teamed with Ben Darling on Saturday and Harold Thayn on Sunday. Darling and Thayn are both from Wellington. The Nine Mile Rodeo is unique in being located so far from a town. It is sponsored by Henry and Barry Mills, and George Fasslin. Henry Mills said there had been a Nine Mile Rodeo when he was growing up but it faded out as the old - timers moved away. I just decided wed like to have it again, he said. The Nine Mile Rodeo Club has sponsored four rodeos since building the arena three years ago. Most of the contestants were local. Fans in attendance came from as far as Farmington. The next rodeo will be during the Labor Day Weekend. Calvin Wilson was the only individual to place in two different events. Wilson, who carried his saddle and bareback rigging on a motorcycle from his hometown of La Salle, was second in bareback and third in bull riding.
