Show 6 Sun Advocate, Price, Utah Wednesday, July 11, 1979, LETTERS (Continued from Page 5) Dazes the Mind Dear editor: Where are our constitutional rights? Im beginning to wonder. As of this day we have worked hard to own our own land, homes, cars, etc. yet yearly and for the rest of our lives we pay and repay for these things through our city and county taxes. Furthermore, we are told what we can and cannot do with these things. We all struggle to do the best we can to improve our homes and land only to be slapped down with building permits and more taxes. How are we to win? Most of us are feeling the unbearable yoke of just trying to live and pay our bills. Where is our help, our hope? There is none. Our city fathers, who were elected to govern us, to consider us, sit high on their pedestals, with their analitical minds, without compassion, care, guilt, or conscience, and decide we the people of Price are to pay approximately $5 million dollars for city improvements. Dazes the mind does it not? Where does this money come from? We the people of course. We must mortgage our homes, cars, land, everything, to get enough money for these improvements. To make these payments we must give up such simple things as the food and clothing and the few luxuries we enjoy including our childrens. I think this is bad enough to ask of us, but what of the poor, sick or old people who try to meet these demands, only to stand in the pretty streets of Price and see their homes and security taken and closed to them. I would like clean, nice, well cared for streets-likany other person, but not at this expense. O7 this protesting incredible action for DINNER BOX Sincerely, Y Dear Editor: I recently received in the mail a copy of Resolution No. 4279 sent by our city government, which outlines the improvements the city fathers intend to make. I didnt pay too much attention to the notice because the street on which I live already has the major improvements listed in the resolution. However, it has since been called to my attention that there is a storm drainage system to be installed which affects every property owner in Price. Each property owner will be assessed anywhere from 4.8 cents per square foot to 8 cents per square foot for storm drainage. County Clerk Norman Prichard made the proposal at Tuesdays Carbon County Commissioners meeting giving some statistics. Prichard said of the $42,000 for ambulance services the hospital has billed between Feb. 1 and the end of June, the county has received only $6,000. Prichard said he could start ambulance billing by August 1 with the addition of only a part time employee. Arrangements could be made to use the computer system presently serving the county, he added. The commissioners then agreed with a suggestion by Commissioner Lee Semken to table -- the proposal until the next meeting July 25. This would give them time to meet with Carbon Hospital Ad- ministrator John Harris and Comptroller Don Larsen first to try to solve the problem, Commissioner Semken said.
