The most important qualification of a host family is a willingness to accept the student as one of their own children. year. Francesca Giraudi from Italy and Victor Conceicao from Brazil are two foreign exchange students who need a host family for the 1990-9- 1 school year in Utah. ItalFrancesca is a ian girl. She speaks Italian, German, English and Spanish. Her hobbies are listening to music and sports such as swimming, boating, gymnastics, skiing, tennis and skating. Her father is an industrialist and her mother is a non-prof- it ERDT is a government-approve- d organization. The students are well screened and will speak English upon arrival. They come from Japan, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Brazil and many other countries. They are covered by medical insurance and have their own spending money. The host family provides room and board, but the students are fully insured and have their own homemaker. - Victor Conceicao is a boy from Rio de Janiero, Brazil. He is proficient in English. His home in Brazil is by the ocean and he enjoys sailing and fishing. He also likes to program computers and American sports such as football, baseball, hockey, and others. He likes to play games and board games. His father is an engineer and his mother is a producer of cultural events. Area USU students earn bachelors Utah State University graduated a total of 2,350 bachelors, masters and doctoral students in the 97th annual commencement exercises June 2. During the six weeks of training the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the community college of the Air Force. Maes is the son of Harold L. and Barbara C. Maes of 570 Wasatch Dr., Layton. He is a 1982 graduate of Lay-to- n High School. Marine Pvt. Wade E. Gilmore, son of Michael E. and Ilene N. Gilmore of 508 S. 600 East, has completed recruit train Lay-to- n, ing at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif. training During the cycle, Gilmore was taught the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment and studied the personal and professional standards traditionally exhibited by Marines. He participated in an active physical conditioning program and gained proficiency in a variety of military skills including first aid, rifle marksmanship and close order drill. Teamwork and were emphasized throughout the training cycle. A 1983 graduate of Layton High School, he joined the Marine Corps in January 1990.
