Last season the Imago performed throughout the Orient with performances in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. The third concert in this summers series, sponsored by the Layton Arts Council, at 7 p.m. in front of the Layton Heritage Museum in Layton Commons Park. All concerts are free to the public. The schedule for the summer concert series is; July 8, Country Rhythm, Tauna Lyn; July 15, Wasatch Playhouse Theatre; July 22, Sunshine Generation, Chad Ellis in Concert; July 29, Encore Performing Arts let West. The second to perform that night is Imago, the Theatre Mask Ensemble. Imago (sounds like Chicago) will take a journey to places populated with whimsical beings from the German Bauhaus, the African Mende, the Italian Commedia dell Arte and Northwest Coast Kwakiuti Indians. With illusions created by mask and visual theater, the company becomes humans, familiar yet bizarre animals, and playful characters. This program is sponsored by the Utah Endowment for the Humanities, and by the Layton Arts Council. The narrator for Mask begins by saying, All over the world and for many centuries, people have been captivated by masks in public performances and in private ritual.
