Day said his power equipment shop located at 608 S. Main was robbed on Jan. 28 and again on March 25. Both times a large number of tillers, lawn mowers, generators, and snow throwers were taken. Day said the robberies both occurred between midnight and dawn. During the first robbery the thieves used a sledge hammer to force their way through the back wall of the building, Day said. The back side of the building faces the freeway in south Lay-ton. The second time the store was robbed the thieves made several attempts to enter before they broke a window and separated the security bars and then forced open a side door to enter. Day said the thieves would have needed a van or truck to make several trips in order to haul off the equipment. He hopes someone who lives in the area or may have been passing by might have seen something suspicious and will contact him. He is offering a reward of up to $1,000 through the Layton Police Department for the arrest and conviction of the thieves and the return of the property. ' On The Map.
