He was a sports enthusiast, organizing many athletic events in the communities where he had lived. He was active in the LDS Church, serving in many positions including high counselor, stake presidency member and temple worker. He had served as a missionary with his wife in St. George the New Zealand Visitors Center and in the Cook Islands. At the time of his death, he was patriarch of the West Point Stake. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He was a member of the Roy LDS 20th Ward. He had been a High Priest group leader, Elder's Quorum president, in the Sunday school superintendency, and he and his wife were officiators in the Ogden LDS Temple. He had served in the National Guard and was a retired switchman from the O.U.R.&D. Railroad. He had lived in Mount Pleasant, Huntsville, Ogden and Roy. Surviving are his wife of Roy, three daughters, Mrs. Gary (Nancy) Birch, South Weber; Mrs. Sid (Jerry) Stoker, Syracuse; Mrs. Reed (Cris) Thurgood, Syracuse, 14 grandchildren and two He was active in the Democratic Party and initiated many political and community events in the communities where he had lived.
