And with the teeth the board of trustees of the North Davis County Sewer District voted themselves there may be truth to childhood fears. The board adopted an ordinance that will allow it to assess up to $50,000 in penalties each day for intentional or continued contamination of the sewer system. The unanimously approved ordinance gives the board the legal ability to prosecute violators and levy up to $25,000 per day for the e discharge of hazardous wastes into the sewer. For repeat violations the fine can be up to $50,000 per day. Chairman Golden Sill said, In a real serious case youve got to have it substantial enough for them to sit up and take notice. The reasons for implementing such an ordinance was explained by Plant Manager Robert Hoh-mawho said there are concerns for excessive heavy metal contamination, such as chromium and cadmium, in the sludge left over from the processing of the first-tim- n, waste. fertilizer. away as non-cro- p He also said the move followed Environmental Protection Agency NOW OPEN guidelines to protect the quality of incoming waste water. The pharmaceutical industry, together with the medical profession have sought to promote this illogical theory. If you think about it, symptoms can only develop after a health problem has already approach begun. The medical-dru- g is directed at relieving discomfort so that you feel better. Unfortunately, in most instances, this approach does little or nothing to address the bodily malfunction producing the discomfort. True health can only exist when every part of the body is functioning properly. That occurs only when the system that controls all functions, the nervous system, is free of interferences, allowing the body to function properly and be healthy. g.niat.ifn And the Federal Government agrees The Federal Government is now urging the medical profession to take measures to keep people healthy rather than continue the present method of treating symptoms after people get sick.
