Twelve school organizations held to purchase trees and decorations. Christmas trees were decorated by the Drama Club, French Club, cheerleaders, Teen Age Republican Society, National Honor Society, student body officers, senior class, junior class, sophomore class. According to Broadhead, the trees will sell for $50 to $120 and may be purchased until Dec. 19. We already have some people interested n buying them, said Broadhead. They can be purchased now on a sort of and picked up on Dec. 15. A price list is at the office. The trees will be doing double duty, since they will be part of the decoaritons used for the Christmas dance on Dec. 13. To raise funds, the French Club sold Christmas novelty items. The sophomore and junior classes sponsored stomps and invited a hypnotist to an assembly where $300 was raised. On Nov. 15 a benefit concert was held, featuring the Four Rs and the Clearfield High School Madres. In conjunction with that event, the PTA held a bake sale. A class competition is being held and donations are being deposited in decoarted jars at the office and book store. The winners will be given a prize, but it wont be money, said Broadhead. Instead, the winning class members will received free tickets to a stomp. Proceeds from a stomp held last Friday have been donated to the fund. The project is being held in place of sub for Santa. The kids usually get toys and clothes for children, but they felt that this year the gift of life was more important, said Lori Chandler, student body advisor. Anyone can bring money to the school, said Broadhead. Just bring it to the office and it will brought to the bank. The competition is sponsored by the University of Utah, the Utah State Office of Education Educational Equity Unit and the Utah Endowment for the Humanities. The deadline is Friday, Dec. 19, at 5 p.m. The topic for the essays is How Can Dreams and Beliefs of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his Movement Help Solve Contemporary World Problems? A $25 cash prize will be awarded to winners in each grade level, seventh to twelfth. Grand-priz- e winners, selected from grade level winners, will receive cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50. Winners will be invited to attend the Martin Luther King Day cultural event at the University of Utah Jan. 15 to receive their awards. The contest is being run through the states English teachers, who each will be asked to submit one entry from their class.
