Peterson, who represents a portion of Roy City, won the two-yecommission seat in the general election when he unseated inar cumbent Democrat Roger Rawson by an 8 percent voting margin. Peterson will resign as the senator for District 20 on Jan. 5, when he is sworn in as commissioner. Roger Nuttall, chairman of the Weber County Republican Party, said four names were selected by the Weber County Central Committee, comprised of voting district chairmen and vice chairmen, to replace Peterson and finish the remainder of his four-yeterm. The four are: Alan Hall, executive director of Ballet West; Glade Nielsen, contractor; Steve Peterson, an area businessman who is no relation to the state senator; and Jack Pierce, former ar iyUccc & Career Center LAYTON 546-616- 6 Roy City mayor, Nuttall said. Nuttall said the names have been sent to Gov. Norman in no ranking order, adding, and he cannot go out and select anybody he wishes, but must choose from the four names presented. Nuttall said by law the party central committee must offer the governor three names to select from; however, four names were submitted because of a tie between two of the nominees. The committee selected the names from among individuals who came forward for the appointment, while one of the finalists was nominated from the floor at a meeting held last week, he said. Nuttall declined to disclose any information on how the nominees finished, but said he assumed the governor would select the individual whose views most closely relate with his. Peterson also said he is not declaring a favorite among the four men chosen. Nuttall said the governor would k make his selection within a the to beginperiod, prior ning of the Utah State legislative session in January.
