The Marketboro Subdivision was approved six years ago before the city had requirements for the piping of irrigation ditches. The ditch is not maintainable, said Dean Galbraith, a representative of the irrigation company, at a recent council meeting. The developer feels the cost of piping is not feasible, said City Administrator John Thacker. According to Thacker the developers intention is to run the ditch behind the curb where it may be properly landscaped. If the ditch is relocated behind the curb as propsed, it would create a maintenance problem, said Galbraith. A deadline of Sept. 15 for completion of the road in the area was not met by the developer Robert Runnels. Mayor Gerald Purdy requested the road be completed immediately. The developer and the irrigation company are to work on a satisfactory way to deal with the ditch.
