Show :roumd the TOWN" B. Davis by Dtjir Reader: A distraught reader called this paper recently: Say whats the idea, lie growled, you fellers ran my obituary in your last issue? The editor hestitated for a moment then in his usual thoughtful manner answered: Just where are you calling from, brother? When I find myself in a bind, trying to choose a subject on which to write, 1 think over the powerful words that help to make up our language. In the past I have mentioned a number that top my list. Today I want to kick around another thats numbered among my top ten....Humility. of Ive been on the merry-go-routeaching drama for many years and I have found that exercising the profound characteristic of humility is one of the most important attributes a student can cultivate. It is so easy for a talented student to lose that important part of himself. To me, an abundance of humility is more important than an abundance of talent. .My most powerful dramatic roles have been played by students who have walked out onto the lighted stage with a prayer in their hearts, regardless of their race, color or creed. I think Ill tell you of an experience that happened to me many years ago while I was serving in the Florida mission. My companion and I did some country work among some of the Saints who hadnt seen missionaries for many years. Wetraveled for one week without money, sleeping in beds of all types and eating concoctions that wed never heard of before. On our Evans return to Miami, we knew we had a dinner date with a good member that evening, but we couldnt find her house. We searched the area where we were sure she lived, but without success. Finally we decided to pray because we hadnt eaten since early morning and night was fast falling around us. I shall never forget our kneeling in the Florida sand and Elder Fir talking to God as though something must be done immediately. You know, we got up from our knees and looked over the area for another half hour and finally gave up our search and walked about four miles back to our quarters where the only food left in the cupboard was cornflakes. We ate cornflake soaked in water without sugar and went to bed, thankful that both of us had letters from home bearing some money with which we could purchase food the following day. It took me many days to figure out why God didn't answer our humble prayer. You know, that ladys house was within 100 yards of the board fence by which we knelt to pray but we couldnt see it, even though she had kept her porch light burning. But as I look back on the experience realize that I cant remember being more humble in my life than I was that night eating those soppy cornflakes then thanking God for having such good luck all day. Yip, I think until someone converts me otherwise, humility will bet numbered among my top ten favorite words. now, I Shop At Home And Save Time and Money PROTECT YOUR HOME 9 THE PAYSON CHRONICLE GUOT WITH FARMERS Thursday, November 12, 1970 HOMEOWNERS Reorganization POLICY President Charles E. The merger into the parent corporation of the two existing subsidiary corporations, Idaho Concrete Products, Inc. and Utah Culvert Co. 2. Increase the number of shares outstanding in the corporation by effecting a two (2) for one (1) common stock split. 3. Update the Articles of Incorporation. 4. Change the name of the corporation from Utah Concrete Pipe Co. to AMCOR, Group 1450 KENNETH ENGLAND Spanish Fork, Utah 55 North Main on Your Dial RADIO GIFT CHECK BOOK Inc. President Ward stated that the merger of its two subsidiaries into the parent company would improve both tax and accounting problems and would have no effect on the operation of the company. He stated that company officers felt that the 2 for 1 stock split would create a broader outstanding common stock base on the open market. Revision of the Articles of Incorporation was made principally to bring them up to date. The change of name to AMCOR, INC. was deemed advisable since the corporation no longer is principally a Utah operation; nor is it principally a concrete pipe manufacturing enterprise. The company now has operations in Idaho and Colorado in addition to Utah. In addition to concrete concrete maspipe, the company-produceonary, metal pipe, telephone and power duct, prestressed concrete products, concrete communication vaults, sand and gravel, and other minor products relative to the water and building industry.
