The couple are both graduates of the Payson High SchooL Nuptials have been planned for the festive holiday season of early December. They will make their home in Goshen. Jr. Auxiliary Members of the Junior Girls, American Legion Auxiliary of Payson, have sent packages of cookies to Payson servicemen who are stationed overseas. The girls, Brenda Heath, Tracey Way-ma-n, Teri Llewellyn, Kathy Llewellyn and Members of the Junior Girls, American Legion Auxiliary, held their regular monthly meeting Saturday morning, Nov. 6, at the Legion Hall, with Lynda Allen, president, in charge. Colors were presented by Bonne Dixon and Lori Chappel and prayer was by Terri Brook. The girls spent the time in making Thanksgiving gifts which they will deliver to veterans in a Springville rest home. On Oct. 31 six Junior Girls and two leaders attended a convention held in Bountiful, where one of the highlights was presentation of a veteran from a hospital, who showed how Memorial Day poppies are made. Funds from the sale go to provide veterans with money for their personal needs. Those attending were Lynda Allen, Joy Argyle, Karen Bjarnson, Joni Morgan, Kathy and Wendy Llewelyn, in addition to leaders, Lucille Allen and Betty LleweUyn. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Mitchell (Dianne Elmer) Reception honors couple after ceremony Dianne Elmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Elmer, recited marriage vows with Evan Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arzie Mitchell, Orem, in a ceremony performed Friday, Oct. 30, in the Nebo StakeCenter. Bishop Ronal Crump of Payson Park Ward officiated. Marie Payne, met at the home of the group leader, Mrs. Laura Steele, where they made delicious cookies. The cookies were packed into large colorful coffee cans and sent with a Christmas card to the men. Mrs. Gladys Larson and Mrs. Ella Stevens assisted in packaging and mailing the gifts. Mrs. Steele said the girls have tried to get names of all local men who are serving overseas and if there are any who have been missed, names and addresses should be submitted to her or other members of the unit. Wendy Shuler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Shuler and Debbie Gray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard F. Gray, will be competing for the queen title. SUSC Homecoming will be held November 9 through 14. Theme is The Age of Leslie Larsen Engagement & wedding plans revealed Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Larsen of Gunnison announce the engagement of their daughter, Leslie Jean, to Larry B. Loveless. The couple plan a December marriage in the Manti LDS Temple. Leslie Jean graduated from Gunnison Valley High School in 1968 where she was Cultus club Rex Behling, local insurance agent, discussed safety in the home and on the highways at a meeting of the Cultus Club, held Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Glade Cowan. Mr. Behling stated that fires in homes are started by matches and cigarettes, faulty wiring, lightning, flames other than heat, defective heating units and spon- taneous conbustion, with highest percentage named first and others in decreasing number as named. He said a breaker box in the home electrical system may save a home fire, and pointed out that having old wiring is like having a bomb planted in the home. Wiring installed more than 15 years ago is more likely to cause trouble than newer installation because of better manufacturing practices. Mr. Behling also mentioned the dangers of sitting too close to color television sets, stating that one should watch from at least a distance of ten feet and preferably He said exray coming from the 15 feet. set may be injurious to the health. Mrs. Bert Cheever announced that the annual Thanksgiving Banquet will be given Nov. 18th at the Fourth Ward Hall. After completing a tour of duty for the Navy, the couple plan to continue their Aquarius. Preliminary judging for the ten queen finalists will be held Nov. 7. The annual Queens Pageant will be the first event of Homecoming Week on November 9 at 8:15 p.m. in the SUSC auditorium. With Thanksgiving Members of Junior Cultus Club heard talks on two subjects when they met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Gordon Taylor. Mrs. Genieve Larsen, a member of the faculty at Spanish Fork High School, spoke on Communications to Your Teenagers. Mrs. Kathy Caras discussed means of helping our prisoners of war. Mrs. Larson, a counselor at the high school, told of ways that parents can help their young people and ways of treating them when they want to leave home. She said parents should rally around them and try to help them when they are known to be smoking, drinking or using drugs. Mrs. Caras, wife of Franklin Caras, who was listed as missing in action some four years ago, made a plea for everyone to write letters to Vietnam, urging better care and treatment for the men who are imprisoned there. She said the moral of the prisoners will be improved if they learn their loved ones remember them and that the prison guards and personnel will be entreated to give better treatment to the prisoners. She asked for the prayers of members on behalf of the men. The address for letters to be sent is as follows: Minister Yuan Thuy, Delegation of Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Paris, France. The speakers were introduced by Mrs. Lynn Powell, Mrs. Duane Patten, president, was in charge of the meeting. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Taylor. The couple received guests before an attractive setting featuring a backdrop of antique mirrors draped with pink chiffon. Large cherubs at either side held arrangements of roses and delphinium. For her wedding the bride chose an empire styled gown with inset of lace and pearl beading down the front, matching the cuffs of trim on the neck and close-fittiHer shoulder the full length sleeves. length veil was caught into a delicate flower cluster and a lace edged mantilla swept into a court train. She carried a bouquet of roses and carnations. Connie Elmer was maid of honor to her sister and other attendants were Jerry Jarvis, Rosalyn Moore, Marilyn Knapp, Becky Robertson and Laurie Mitchell, sister of the bridegroom. Miss Elmer wore a pink formal and carried a pink rosebud. Others were in cranberry rayon acetate and carried long stemmed red rosebuds tied with gold ribbon. Mothers of the couple wore gold formals complimented with corsages of pink carnations. Wayne Stringfellow was best man to the groom.
