Harmer, Administrator at the People Helping People Mr. Harold Harmer, Administrator at Iayson Hospital, is very happy to announce receiving a lovely gift from Mrs. Twila Smith of Salt Lake City, formerly a resident of this area, having lived in Genola and Goshen. She was the former Twila Finch and was married to the late Vern Smith. Mr, Smith was afflicted with emphysema during the latter part of his life and had purchased this Bird Positive Pressure Intermittent Breathing Machine which was a great aid to him. This machine has a value of $700 and will surely be a great addition to the equipment of the Payson Hospital. It is planned that this machine will be used in the Intensive Care Unit, that it might be available for emergency use when the occasion arises. This will all be mounted on a stand with wheels so it could be moved to any area of the Hospital or wherever it might be needed. It is also equipped with its own compressor and could be taken to most any area, even out- - To strive each day to do my part in contributing something of worth to society or someone in need, is the lifes creed of Mrs. Lynn (Betty Lou) Mendenhall, who has recently assumed the position of receptionist at the Payson Hospital. Betty Lou is the daughter of Mrs. Lucille Francis Taylor and the late Wayne Francis. She was born in Lake Shore, Utah and reared in the areas surrounding Spanish Fork. She was graduated from the Spanish Fork High School and Seminary and the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. Betty Lou and Lynn Mendenhall are the parents of six children: John, a freshman at the Brigham Young University; Patti, a junior in high school; Tim and Terry (twins) are ninth graders; Bret is in sixth grade and Gina is in the first grade. Betty Lou has served her church in the Primary, Relief Society and the MIA. She is presently serving as President of the Spanish Stake YWMIA. Betty Lou has always enjoyed working and appreciates all the in dramatics activities of our youth. We congratulate the Payson Hospital in having such a friendly receptionist as Betty Lou Mendenhall. We Are Now Beginning Our Betty Lou Mendenhall side of the hospital, for use if it becomes We Invite You to be a member of our Family necessary. This is a similar machine to the one that was very instrumental in helping the doctors to save the life of Mr. Lyle Graham a few years ago and since has been used very extensively at Payson Hospital. Mr. Harmer said the Hospital did appreciate this lovely gift. Mrs. Smiths only comment was she wanted Payson Hospital to have this in memory of her late husband, Vern Smith, and her only concern was that it be used to bring relief to those who may be in need of this type of treatment. Our sincere thanks from the Payson Hospital to Mrs. Smith for this generous gift. -- Editorial- Serious problem This time of the year when residents our area are busy cleaning their homes and yards before the winter season arrives is a good time to remind all of you about a serious problem which has plagued those living in the area leading to the garbage dump. People have good intentions of doing the task correctly but often it doesnt end up just as they intended. Usually they carefully pack their refuse into their pick up or trailer and proceed to the dumping area where they dump it and return home. This is as it should rightly be and there would then be no complaints BUT so very often a few (??) leaves or branches, or old shoes, or letters or some small items such as these drop along the roadway and are forgotten by the owners. When some of the items dropped in this manner such as large limbs, boxes and old mattresses are left, as they have been on numbers of occasions, it not only is an eye sore to the community but it is a hazard to motorists. We should all be aware of the law on littering in Utah and do OUR part to see that this problem is corrected. All of the folks in our area like to have their yards and highways clean and unlittered and this includes those living on the road which leads to the garbage dump. Lets not add to their problems. of I I Drop in & See Us I at Our Beautiful New A j OIL PAINTING on authentic Artists Canvas will be given FREE with each New Checking Building Complete Hanking Services! : 22x28 reproduced Are Now Available : 4- - a or Savings Account of $1 00 or more or an Addition of $1 OO to a Present Savings Account. k Penwomen meet Birch Beales, architect and member of the University of Utah faculty, addressed the Utah State Branch of the National League of American Penwomen at the Fort Douglas Hidden Valley Golf Clubhouse in Salt Lake City Saturday.
