The parents are Ronald and Marylynn Peterson of Mesa, Arizona. Mrs. Kenison left to spend some time to get 465-333- 2 acquainted. Mrs. Arbeth Dalton spent the weekend with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Morganson. The children enjoyed their grandmother for the Halloween weekend. Taylor School News A birthday dinner was held Nov. 1 for Tim Morganson. His grandmothers, Mrs. Dalton and Mrs. Morganson, and two uncles, Robert and Reid, joined the family for the occasion. In a surprise program, This Is Your Life, Mr. Finch, the Taylor School children were pleasantly surprised to find they had a real live hero of World War II in their school and didnt even know it. Under the direction of the Principal, Paul Beckstrom, the faculty decided to make Veterans Day more meaningful to the students by honoring a man whom they all loved and knew. Mr. Finch is the school custodian. After a brief introduction, Mr. Finchs (Bobs) childhood days were recounted by his family and friends, and pictures were projected on the screen. Those participating were: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Finch Sr.; a teacher, Elizabeth Huish; a Jr. High teacher. Crista Amos; friend his brother, Vernon; a life-loand schoolmate, Edith Decker; and his Mr. Charles Fry from Salt Lake visited the home of Paul L. Haws for the pheasant hunt weekend. Oct. 31st was the scene of many HaHo-weoccasions. Miss Deanna Erickson entertained many friends at her home. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold en Erickson. Teenagers were swarming at the Dale home as Laurie entertained for the holiday. Games were played and chili and doughnuts were enjoyed by the group. Sheffield Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Hurst were his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Glendon Hurst of Salt Lake City and her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Max Madson of Heber. 3"' 4L (.Jr First grade, Michael Hiatt; Young Audience String Section at Wilson School, Third grade, Judy Dean and Second grade, Dario Davenport. Terri Jo Jackson entertained a mixed group where a spook alley, games and refreshments were in order. A very joyous time was had by all. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jackson, turned over the home to all the group for the evening. Dennis Morganson invited Harley Hurst, Brice Sheffield, Roger Gleave to enjoy Halloween evening with him. They enjoyed at games and meeting trick and treaters the home. Mrs. Ruby Meredith traveled to Battle Mountain, Nevada to meet her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Allbee. They were to continue to Whittier, Calif, where they visited relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Morrill Ahlstrom. Pvt. Laurence Haws of the Marines has spent two weeks visiting with his family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul L. Haws. He leaves Nov. 8th for North Carolina for further assignment. On October 30, Wilson School's Third Grade presented "Deep in the Clearing" for the studentbody and parents. It was under the direction of Mrs. Wride and Miss Smith, a student teacher. The play was presented in story form with song and dance with Halloweeners looking on at witches, ghosts, pumpkins, cats, trees and gobllins who were preparing in the forest to scare people on Halloween night. Hilights from Goshen Wilson School Notes Mrs. Eva Cook Wilson School had a very fine program Oct. 39th. It was the Young Audience Program from the BYU. The first program they had was for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. The music was played on a level that the students enjoyed. This year the Young Audience Program was made up of a string section which the four members of the group played very well. The second part of their program was for the 4th and 5th grades. The roving quilters gang helped all three complete the jobs. Mrs. Eva Cook entertained the Friendly 500 Club members at her home last Thursday afternoon. A hot dinner was served to Lillian Burraston, Delia White, Violet Buxton, Nellie Finch, Dee Christensen, Evelyn Larson and Esther Bussy. The afternoon was spent playing 500 with prizes going to Nellie Finch, high; Lillian Burraston, cut; and Dee Christensen, low. of Dugway spent the weekend at the home of her mother, Mrs. Ruby Steele. They all enjoyed the pheasant hunt. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Buxton left last for Burley, Idaho where they attended funeral services for his mother, Mrs. Sophia Buxton, who passed away last Saturday at the age of 89, in a rest Monday home at Caldwell, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hansen returned home recently after shearing sheep in Montana. The question "What Makes a Great Ameriran?" was partiality answered by students at the Taylor School who reeenly honored Robert P. Middle School Events To say that Rose Cheever is a rose among the thorns would be very untrue, but she is the only girl in Mr.Boyd Andersons popular drafting class at Payson Middle School. Miss Cheever and the twenty three boys who participate in this eighth period enrichment program insist that it is one of the best classes any teacher has to offer. Bruce, Roses twin brother, is also a member of this class. The Middle School Enrichment Program gives each student a chance to choose his eighth period class and when Rose chose drafting she found herself the only girl in this program. From her picture it is clearly shown that she fits into the situation perfectly, and Mr. Anderson says she is an outstanding student. Rose comes by such interests andtalents very honestly since her Father, George A. Cheever Jr., teaches Technical and Architectural Drawing at the Payson High Just this year he received a School. National Teacher of the Year Award, and will be listed in Whos Who of the His twin sons, Mark Nation for 1970. ng High principal, Grant Gardner. Other numbers on the program were; a vocal duet by Irma Measom and Gwyn Harmer; I Pledge Allegiance, a song by the school children; a vocal solo by Carl Nelsen; an original poem by Miss Huishs third grade; a song by the 4th and 5th grade students, composed by the 5th Grade teacher, Ned Hansen; and a vocal Where The GI Lies, words and duet, music by Marie Stevenson. The students agreed that it was one of the most wonderful Veterans Days that they have ever known. Jr. and Grant, are outstanding in this drafting field in High School. Other student choices inthe Enrichment Program include Horse Science, Basketball, Leathercraft, Journalism, Biology, Library Science, Glee Club, Boy Scout Merit Badge Study, Arts and Crafts, Personality, Indoor Games, Basic Math Helps, and Photography. It is no wonder that his program is one of the highlights of a Middle School studentss day at school. son. A delicious luncheon was enjoyed by eight members and 1 guest. Little Lynette Thompson celebrated her 10th birthday by taking her little friends to the picture show. They were Tamra Christensen, Shelly Ryan and Mary Jo Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Morgan, daughter, Cally and son, Kit, attended funeral service-. for her grandmother, Mrs. Sophia Buxton at Burley, Idaho last Tuesday. In Nebo School District there are many classes that are beneficial to students. Rose School. Among them is the Enrichment Pregram taught at the Middle Cheever (in a class of 23 boys) is excelling in this art. Eight Mr. and Mrs. Keith Perry and children of Salt Lake spent last Sunday visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Burraston, and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mathe- - Mr. and Mrs. Owen Steele and children son. ojjlfOU Mrs. Mable Finch was confirmed a member of the LDS Church last Sunday at Sacrament Services by her son, Ira Finch, of Magna. She was baptized earlier in the month also by her son, Ira Finch. Finch, Mrs. Lola Nelson and Mrs. Josephine Lux joined the Senior Citizens of Payson and Santaquin to hear the performance of Liberace last Thursday evening at the Valley Music HaU in Salt Lake City. Mr. Roger Jensen was released from the Payson Hospital last Wednesday after spending a week there for tests and Mr. Earl Woodard is still a patient at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City after a stay of two months.
