Show THE PAYSON CHRONICLE 9 Thursday, July 30, 1970 Dear Reader: in Payson. (Almost made it once when I was 19). In fact its the first time Ive ever spent any nights in a hospital. You know, hospitals arent such bad Had my appendix out, had to spend a week in the Payson City Hospital; first time in my life I ever stayed overnight ij W 3 DRIVE Ill find my way back. Many people from this area migrate north of here when hospitalization is needed. I cannot understand the need for doing so when we have such a well equipped plant in our own area. Mr. Ronald Nielsen, Administrator of the hospital, informed me that for the Payson City Hospital to operate in the black, 57 of the 90 beds must be occupied. There are some months in the year when the organization breaks even. From January on through the early spring it operates well into the black but during the months of July, August and September the number of patients range between 35 and 45. This is fortunate in that the hospital does not become a liability to Payson City; over the year it pays it way. We can make it a paying venture and in so doing make it a bigger and better place to care for our people who need care. I firmly believe that as our valley grows, we can no longer consider city boundry lines as being all important, we must learn to support each other and help South Utah Valley to become a pleasant, interesting healthy place to live. Gee Whiz, this all came from spending a few nights in the Payson Hospital. What could come from this if I really got sick? sure fidliffe - IN - WINDOWS LETTER DEPOSIT BOX NIGHT DEPOSITORY CONVENIENT PARKING COMMUNITY MEETING ROOM FULL places to be, especially when a feller is sick and we here in South Utah Valley are very fortunate in having such a plant as the one in Payson. I dont think I could have received better care anywhere in America than I did there: Rooms were clean and bright, nurses pleasant and efficient and the food was especially good. My appreciation goes out to you, the Administration and Staff of the Payson City Hospital.
