Show This Spring Lake Events Lanon Huish PKon The family of Reuben and Marinda held a family reunion on a recent Sunday at the Payson Park. The family was to celebrate the safe return of Steven Dunstan, son of Mr and Mrs. Andy Taylor of Salem, from a tour of duty at Vietnam and the birthday of Mrs. Curtis, (Jed) Carter. Those present to enjoy the happy occasion were Mrs. Marinda Carter and her children and grandchildren and their families, Grove and Fonnie Carter and two children from Salt Lake City; Oliver and Rowene Carter Kanpp, Dennis and Gay Knapp and two children from Lehi, Gary and Jan Knapp and baby son, Marilyn Kanpp, Spring Lake; Bill and Jeanine Carter and four children and Merrin and Iona Spainhower and four children, Payson; Verna and Andy Taylor and six children, Salem; Larry and Betty Dunstan and two children, Grantsville; Mrs. Cathy Caras and four children, Benjamin and Mac and Gay Carter and two children, Richfield. Mrs. Verna Taylor made a beautifully decorated birthday cake which was served with homemade. ice cream after a delicious chicken picnic dinner. They played ball and all enjoyed the family association. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. McKeand from Brownsville, Texas are spending the summer with their daughter, Jane and John Brereton, and their little granddaughter. son-in-la- w, Mrs. Len (Lurine) Saunders was hostess to a Cousins Club which the members have been holding for some time and also to a shower for Mrs. Saunders neice, Marilyn Mulliner, at her home Tuesday afternoon. It was the occasion for a pot luck party which has been held every summer at one of the homes since the club was formed. Present were Mrs. Saunders mother, Mrs. E.W. Bricker, whose husband also came; Mrs. Ivor Boyce, Mrs. Donna Lou Morgan and her daughter, Marsha; Mrs. Marion Bird and three children, Mrs. Sheri Linebaugh, Mrs. Linda Thorpe, Mrs. Jean Paras, Mrs. Nelda Eldridge, Mrs. Connie Taylor, who are from in and around the Salt Lake area and Mrs. Connie Saunders and Mrs. Joyce Saunders from here. They very much enjoyed visiting together and also the lunch. Young Leslie Pierson and seventeen old brother, Lee Pierson, children of Joyce and Stanley Pierson of Hunter, are happy to be visiting with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Len Saunders for a while. Lee is helping his uncles, Dick and Dale Saunders on the farm. year Mr. and Mrs. R.N, Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Butler enjoyed a morning of fishing at Strawberry one day last week. A swimming party at the swimming pool in Payson Park Tuesday night marked the closing of the Spring Lake mutual for the year. Most of the group attending had fun swimming untir it rained too hard. Although the rain was much needed it was very inconvenient to enjoy an outdoor picnic as had been planned. Greenhalgh, and her sisters and brothers with their husbands and wives and some grandchildren for a family party while her brother, Lowell, and his .wife from San Diego, Calif, were in Utah for a very short time. Although the rain stopped the patio party which had been planned at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Greenhalgh they still enjoyed the family association and visiting inside. They also visited with their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Cecil S. Peery. Raymon Bascom and a very delightful July 24th weekend on an outing of camping and fishing in the Uintas. Mrs. Bascom and family picked Mr. Bascom up at his place of employment Thursday afternoon and then drove to where they could make camp. They all hiked into the Uintas and besides doing some fishing they very much enjoyea the beauty of the places they hiked too. The young couple have planned on Aug. 4 wedding and reception to be held at the Spring Lake Cultural Hall. He was born Jan. 18, 1899, in Goshen, a son ofRichard J. and Martha Steele Burraston. He served a term on the Goshen Town Council and was a veteran of World War II and a member of Post 48, American Legion, in Payson. Enjoying the drag races at Salt Lake on Friday evening were Frankie Robinson and Andy Rigler. They truly enjoyed this exciting event. Survivors include one son, Lorus Alfred Manwaring, Salt Lake City; several grandone children; five brother, Asa Hancock, North Salt Lake. Funeral services were held Wednesday at noon at 260 E. South Temple. Burial was in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Martina H. Jensen Spending a few days at the home of their aunt and uncle is Andrea Oberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Oberg of Provo, Mrs. Obert has spent a few days in the hospital. Also visiting on Saturday were Dale Oberg and son. They also visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oberg. to Goshen after spending the July 24th afternoon at Payson Park where they had enjoyed a hamburger and hot dog picnic lunch. On the way to Goshen they went swimming in Warm Creek. Stephanie and Becky have had an enjoyable time while spending their summer at Kearns and have visited many interesting places in and around Salt Lake City. Stephanie is a former resident of Kearns before moving to Dallas with her mother who was a friend of Miss Butlers. The girls will leave about the 9th of August to return to their homes to get ready for the opening of school August 25th. Announcing the happy news of a baby boy born July 25 is Mr. and Mrs. Gary Brown. This is the second boy with five Cecil Hancock Manwaring, 83, 29 S. State, died Sunday in a Salt Lake City hospital. A native of Payson, she was born Nov. 6, 1886, to Asael and Julia Barnard Hancock. She married Lorus Manwaring on Oct. 6, 1905, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Feb. 19, 1964.
