A lively program was followed by a genealogy meeting. 17-1- Aug. 11 has been chosen by the West Ward Relief Society as their Mothers and Daughters Work Day. An invitation is extended by the presidency, Mrs. Shirley Bushman, Mrs. Lora Rowley and Mrs. Marilyn Berry for the mothers to come and bring their daughters. Many projects will be ready to do. Meeting is from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Mrs. Alta Rowley is work director. Mrs. and Mrs. Delo Rowley left Salt Lake July 23 by jet for New York where they will meet their son, Mr. Keith Rowley who has just returned from Europe. Keith has had the experience of touring Europe with the BYU a capella choir since June 1. The Rowleys will spend a weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kelly at Brooklyn. The Hill Cumorah Pageant is scheduled in their plans. Keith will audition at Washington D.C. for entrance in the United States Air Force Band. They will tour many other points of interest. Mrs. Helen Robbins accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bannister and daughter, Barbara, of Fontana, California to Salt Lake Saturday to attend funeral services, for Mrs. Margaret Quigley Borg of Salt Lake. They also visited at the home of Mr. Charlas Stevens. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rothe and family of Bonanza, Oregon enjoyed an overnight visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rothe. Marilyn Rothe, sister of Mr. Rothe returned home with them after a months visit at the Rothe home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stickney and family and Mrs. Ruby Stickney motored to Reservoir where they joined Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Finch of Goshen at their cabin for three days of fishing. Many family socials and dinners were enjoyed and the 24th of July was a special treat. Mr. Lorin DeGraw and his son, Ronald DeGraw, of Provo were honored jointly Saturday at a birthday dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lorin DeGraw. Thirty family members were present. The table was centered with a beautiful birthday cake made by his daughter, Mrs. LuJean Draper. Many birthday cards and telephone greetings were received. David and Diane Peterson of Provo have spent the past five days with their grandmother, Mrs. Iva Nay. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Peterson, were called to California due to the accidental death of Mr. Petersons brother, Mr. Dean Peterson, of Santa Monica, Dick, Calif. The Blatters attended the Worlds Fair in Japan, toured Hong Kong and other points of interest. They will now make their home at Center-viU- e. Min-ersvi- lle Boy Scout Troop 96 are proud to once again hold the Nebo Stake flag. At a recent Court of Honor they had 35 boys receive merit badges. They also had the highest percent of parents present. Congratulations Troop 96. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Thurman (Karen Butler) and daughter, Cristy, of Santa Rosa, California visited Sunday and Thursday with Mrs. Thurmans brother and wife, Carl and Carol Butler. He assisted Mr. Butler in the construction of their new home. Cristy was the center of attraction because this was her first trip to Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thompson are proud to arrival of a new born July 21 at the Payson Hospital to Brent and Rose Marie Thompson. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J.C, Thompson of Kellogg, Idaho. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. announce the Mr. and Mrs. Marr Caldwell returned Friday from a three day vacation to Afton, Wyoming. They were pleasantly surprised to greet Mr. Caldwells two sisters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Lance of Bellflower, Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Cornett and Jeffery Johnson of Long Beach, Calif. While here they enjoyed the Spanish Fork Rodeo. They returned home on Friday. 754-34- Airman and Mrs. Gordon Daley and little daughter have spent the past month visiting with relatives in Santaquin and Payson. While here they were guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Wall. Airman Daley left Tuesday, July 28, for duty in Vietnam. His wife and daughter will reside at Payson while he is away. The new arrival has three little sisters waiting to greet him at home. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Kathle Tischner of Santaquin and Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Houghton of Salt Lake City. Rex L. Behling was one of 548 persons awarded the Insurance Institute of America Certificate in General Insurance as a result of the Institutes May, 1970 examinations. The Certificate in General is granted to persons who have completed a study program and three national examinations in property and liability insurance. The Insurance Institute of America is a nationally recognized nonprofit educational organization supported by the insurance indsutry. nA courses are widely used by insurance company personnel and are the authorized study programs of the nation's leading agent, adjuster and insurance broker organizations. During the three-semest- er past year, insurance personnel sat for more than 13,000 examinations in all HA programs. Mr. Behling is assistant Sunday School Superintendent of the Payson Fifth Ward. He makes his home at 375 East 5th South with his wife, the former Thora Christensen of Ephraim. They are parents of seven children, Linda, Lois, LeAnn, Laura, Richard, Lisa and Joseph. Louisiana arrived recently at the Salt Lake Airport where he rented a car and arrived at the home of his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Evans, in three and one half hours from home. He also visited his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hal Garner of Logan. Mrs. Robert E. Finch accompanied Mrs. Vernon Finch to Nephi on Wednesday where they visited Mr. Finchs sister, Mrs. Charlotte White of Goshen who is a patient at the Juab County Hospital. Mrs. David G. Finch and daughters, Barbara, Beverly, Jeanene and Susan, arrived recently from Willington, Delaware for a months visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Finch and Dr. and Mrs. W.D. Tueller of Provo. Mr. Finch will join the family in two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Taylor and family of San Diego, Calif, arrived Sunday for a weeks stay in Payson. They were called home due to the illness of Mr. Taylors father, Mr. Leon Taylor, who is a patient at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. They also visited Mrs. Taylors parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Farr. They returned home The White Pine Riding Club enjoyed an outing in Santaquin Canyon on Friday and Saturday with 16 members and their wives participating. Festivities included a steak fry and early morning breakfast. Dean Wall, president, was in charge. The club won the first place trophy in the stock parade held recently at Nephi and the trophy is on display .at Curts Cafe. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Ahlin are anarrival of a baby daughter on July 20 at the Payson. Hospital. A sister, Pamela, is waiting at home to greet her. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ahlin; nouncing the Julia Ahlin of Santaquin and Mrs. Vera Morgan of Goshen. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith and family enjoyed a picnic Saturday July 25 in Santaquin Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Taylor and family Paul Morgan, of Independance, Missouri to Bear Lake, Idaho on Thursday where they spent the 24th of July holiday with their sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Dickerson (Maybell Farr). They returned Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Elmon Hendrickson and son, Don; Mr. Brent Foutz of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mr. and Mrs. CarlosSchramm and family spent two days at Joes Valley fishing, hiking and camping. Mrs. Minnie Depew is making her home presently with her son, Mr. Max Depew and his wife, Rela Depew. real live western roundup was held Friday at the Westward Cultural Hall for all Blazer, Trekkers, and Guide boys and A their fathers. Western atmosphere prevailed in decorations, food and games. Forty boys and parents participated. Mrs. Vilda Ereckson and Mrs. Donna Hiatt accompanied a group of Payson Band members to Lagoon on Monday. Members reported in attendance were Alice Hurst, Lynn Hiatt, Gary Carlisle, Cristy Larsen, Colleen Rindlisbacher, Gordon Kenison, Curtis Sorenson, Machell Carlisle and Rosalee and DeAnna Erekson. Mrs. Ruby Meredith spent five days visiting in American Fork with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jacklin, and her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. on Sunday. She spent the time at the BYU where she took her oral examination in library science as a requirement in obtaining her doctors degree in Aug. She returned to Caldwell on Monday. He then proceeded to baptize them and the Gift of the Holy Ghost was conferred upon them and they immediately set forth to teach all who would listen, baptizing them by immersion, and they laid hands upon them also, to give them priceless Gift of the Holy Ghost. Thus they became Fishers of Men, gathering souls intothe fold of Gods Gospel, Fishermen of today are upon the waters for the great and popular sport of catching fish for the frying pan or to see which can catch the largest for the day. Even today we are given the precious privilege to be Fishers of Men. Everyone of us are called to be missionaries, which is surely one and the same thing in the eyes of God. Some might querry: Are the women and children of the church also to be Fishers of Men. Why of course we are--w- e are all comissioned to gather Gods children into His fold and bring the blessings of the Gospel into their lives. We are called to expound the gosin pel word, deed, and example, and whether it be missionary work or as Fishers of Men" it seems it is indeed the same identical calling. While there the family will attend the Hill Cumorah Pageant. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Givionni of Richmond, California have been guests at the home of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Fowkes. While here the group enjoyed a trip to Idaho Falls and a visit with an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Don Jerman. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hansen and son of Fort Collins, Colorado have been visitors at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kay. Mrs. Albert Hudson and Mrs. Don Armstrong spent the 24th of July visiting with their mother and sister, Mrs. Maud Miller of Provo. Mrs. Miller returned home with them and joined Mr. and Mrs. Hudson on a vacation trip to Las Vegas to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne (Buzz) Trotter. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Holladay who have been making their home at Cupertino, Calif, were visitors the past week at the home of his father, Menles Holladay. They are in Utah making preparations to make a home at Magna, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Brady and three little daughters were guests Sunday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Brady. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Peery and daughter of Whittier, Calif, have returned to their home after visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Laboroi. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Kay the past week included a cousin, Mrs. Glen Larsen and her husband of LeGrande, Oregon and a grandson, Craig Fredrickson of Ogden. While here he worked on his life badge in scouting with the help of his grandmother. On Saturday the Kays were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Terry Fredrickson and little son, Brett, of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Peterson of Richfield for a fishing trip at Big Lake. Camp grounds at Springville Canyon. The group enjoyed lunch and a program furnished by members of the families. The Chester Steele family had the most members of his family in attendance. Sam Elton of Genola was the oldest descendant. New officers were elected with Mrs. Ruth Draper of Genola, president and Mr. David White of Kaysville, Mrs. Ardella Cloward of Kaysville was held over as secretary and treasurer. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Steele and three children' of Qgden celebrated the 24th of July and the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Ruby Steele. Goshen residents celebrated the 24th of July Saturday July 25. Flag raising ceremonies were conducted by the president of the ward primary, Ranee Miller. A delicious hot breakfast was enjoyed by a large group of ward members and visitors. At 10 a.m. a colorful miniature parade lined main street with 23 floats, horses and bicycles all decorated up. Prizes awarded were 1st to the Sunday School, 2nd to the O.N.O. Club and 3rd to a miniature train float sponsored by the Gordon Kirks and Phil Whites. There were ball games in the afternoon. Paula and Celia Nelson, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Merril Nelson of Hunter, spent their vacation visiting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson. They returned home last Sunday and their brothers, Ronald and Scott Nelson, are taking their turn with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Merril Nelson came down on the 24th to celebrate in Goshen. The boys will return home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Matheson left Wednesday for Parowan where they spent the 24th and visited family members from Nevada and Cedar City. Lyle Nelson, 10 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nelson, is out with his friends after recuperating at his home for the past two weeks. Lyle, with another friend, Perry White, got thrown from a horse. Both boys got skinned up some but Lyle has a compound fracture of his right arm. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Green accompanied son, Sgt. Tim Green, to the airport where he left for Camp Carson, Colo.
