Show PAYSON THE Scholarship Receives award Each year the Board of Trustees at Payson Hospital (having recognized the need to help our youth and stimulate them toward choice health careers, and especially toward becoming Registered Nurses) has made a $100.00 scholarship available to a worthy senior from each of the high schools serving the area of the Payson Hospital The purpose of these scholarships is two-fol- CHRONICLE Thursday, May 78, 1970 This year the decision was so c v there were two awards rnadeattheSpai Fork High School. The recipients of scholarships were Miss Kathy .d (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L K. Riches, Spanish Fork) and Miss Ma Farley (daughter of Mrs. LornaS. lari Salem). Pay-so- n Hospital Happenings There has been valuable activity lately in tjie program of Employee Suggestions at Payson Hospital. There havebeenmany worthwhile suggestions made. Awards are made bimonthly and the recent choice suggestions reviewed for MarchApril proved to be of great value. There were many suggestions made, but the following will be awarded $1.00 gift certificate for their worthy suggestions: Mr. George Curtis, Mrs. Robert Nelson, Mrs. Suslnne Harris, Mrs. Ruth Spencer, Mrs. Ora Viertel, Mrs. Eileen Thomas, Mrs. Joyce Underwood, and Mrs. Lizzie Utley. Among these suggestions were: placing of holders on the sominoes in the patient rooms to hold the patient houseslippers; obtaining a weighing chair to facilitate weighing of patients too ill to stand on scales whose weight is a vital part of their record; the availability of a special room where family members of loved ones may go when there is a crisis or death in the hospial; improvements in some of the hospital forms used; and so forth. These suggestions will be implemented to aid the hospital in providing better patient care and service to the pulic. The winning suggestion for this period was submitted by Mrs. Rhea Simons youth and stimulate en the ill and awkward persons who are being admitted. I am always fearful that someone might trip on the leg of. the folding chair, which is placed at the side of the desk, and falling and hitting a sharp corner on the metal box. The cords are also a hazard to anyone who goes behind the desk. This bench could be made with a hinged lid or sliding doors so that the amplifier could be serviced. Kathy LaRae Riches and Margie Farley receive scholarships from Payson Hospital Administrator Rpn Nielsen. Hospital Health Careers Scholarship from Mayor Howard Riley. Miss Susan Okelberry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Okelberry of Goshen, was the recipient of this years scholarship at Payson High School She is pictured receiving the award by Major Howard Riley, Board Chairman. The award was presented at the Payson High School Annual Awards Assembly held Thursday, May 21, at the school. of Salem. Her useful suggestion was: 1 would like to suggest putting an upholstered bench on the east side of the admissions desk (switchboard). Under this plan, six months prior to Mr. Xs parole, he was placed in employment at Kennecott, sharing in all the company benefits of a regular employee. He continued to live at the prison. At the end of the six months, his sentence completed, Mr. X was given the opportunity to continue working at Kennecott in the same job. He accepted. He has succeeded.
