Show Progress March Millard County Chronicle On Fn Feb 23 DSE held its final ‘Coyote College’ of the school year It was successful another event The students were able to learn many new and different things We'd like to thank all of the volunteers that came to help out and also a big thanks to the DSE PTA for all of the time and effort that they put forth so that things would run so smoothly Pace 7 8 2001 Millard County Recreation news Men’s Volleyball Career Day Winners Cat in the Hat Day On Tues Feb 27 DSE celebrated ‘Dr Suess’ birthday Our special visitor “The Cat in the Hat” read several books to the students at an assembly The students loved hearing the Dr Seuss favorites read by the one and only ‘Cat in the Hat’ There was also another reader a 3 year old ( Steven Shumway) from Tooele came to read his favorite Dr Seuss story everyone loved it All of the teachers and staff members at DSE wore “Cat in the Hat” hats for the day It was great fun Prior to the special ‘Cat in the Hat’ day many of the students entered a reading contest The winners of the contest were: Garrett Bryner 275 minutes Kindergarten Angela Burton - 580 minutes First Grade Sean Stephenson - 550 minutes Steven Shumway 3 yr old from Second Grade Jamie Burton - 810 minTooele reading his favorite Dr utes Third Grade Ryan Thomas - 1085 Seuss story minutes Fourth Grade Emily Judkins 1570 minutes Good Job Readers! 1460 minutes and Fifth Grade Laura Schmit On Wed Feb 2 DSE held its annual ‘Career Day’ This is a day when the 3rd 4th and 5th grade students are given the opportunity to leam about different professions and careers ‘Career Day was coordinated by Marianne Obom and Lloyd Loveless from Delta Technical Center Marianne and Lloyd organized six different career stops for the students to visit Mrs Lynn Davis of ‘Leo’s’ restaurant in Delta came to talk to the students about working in the food service industry Travis Jones of ‘Mindscape Art and Frame' came to give students an idea of what goes on in his business Officer Lang from the Millard County Sheriffs office came to talk to students about the Law Enforcement field Craig Greathouse came and spoke to the students about running a car dealership Dr Rendon Hughes came and talked about being a Chiropractor Students from the Delta Technical School came and talked about preparing to work in the Automotive field The students really enjoyed hearing about some of the different occupations that are out there We hope that the students will be better prepared for making the decision as to what career they will choose in the future Thanks to those who came to help our students leam about these professions Fillmore Middle School Championship team - Ladd's Lazer Leveling: Back row left to right and Rich Bishop Front row - Ladd Howard Quackenbush Not pictured Blair Losee and Quinn Lindstrom Lindstrom 2 place team Russ Church Glen Taylor Josh our Community For the months of February and March we have been talking about our community and the people that help to make it the wonderful place that it is Each classroom has selected a group or individual citizen to honor for their service and extra effort in our different communities Many of those honored have visited the classrooms and have thank them pemmulty and ask quctiotwabout the opportunity given the children their particular job in the community Some of those who haVe been or will be honored Park are: Dentists Doctors Nurses Road Dept Festival of Trees City Council City CrossChristmas lights Dairies Hospital Museum Mayors Chamber of Commerce Sanitation workers Police Dept ing guards City workers Postal workers City Library Fire Dept Teachers and EMT’s The children and workers at the Delta South work hard to help us to be safe ementary School pay tribute to these people who the month of March we encourage our happy and canng people Thank you!!
