Project Managers Ruth Rawlinson (Mrs Phil) has now assumed the position and is diligently gathering sorting and pursuing West Millard histories and biographies Ms Rawlinson accepted the position when due to unforseen circumstances Lenore McCall was not able to continue Mrs McCall did a tremendous job of getting the project off the ground in fact words cannot express all that she has done Ms Rawlinson hopes that all the effort Mrs McCall put into setting the project into motion can continue She further hopes the end result will be something the entire community can be proud of and future generations will not only delight in but find a valuable resourse Everyone Everyone is encouraged to write their family histories and submit them flyers are still Explanation available at the Chronicle Histories may be turned in at the Chronicle or directly to Ms Rawlinson Emergency Medical Service Week The Congress of the United States has officially declared the week of 1987 as Emergency September Medical Services Week Each year thousands of Utahns suffer from sudden unexpected illness or injury These unfortunate victims are usually first attended to by Emergency Medical Services personnel Thousands of lives have been saved due to the efforts of these trained professionals These men and women have completed extensive training and continuing education to enable them to be highly proficient in their emergency are care skills These professionals available 24 hours a day seven days a week 365 days a year The Delta and Fillmore Community Medical Centers would like to take much for the betterment of Health Care in Millard County Flu shots scheduling for Millard The “cold and flu” season is upon us again The influenza vaccine should be considered particularly important by older people and those who are vulnerable because of lung or heart diseass or diabetes Due to an increased work load and tight schedule the Public Health Nurse will not be doing Flu Shots Clinics in the outlying areas this year There is plenty of vaccine so don’t worry that we will run out We would ask you to follow our time schedule so we can avoid long lines and waiting at our clinics The following is a schedule of the clinics: Monday September 28 in the Delta Public Health Office individuals from Oak City Lynndyl and Leamington may obtain their shots This is the regular childhood Health Statewide home fire drill set for Oct Governor Norman H Bangerter and the state’s chief of fire prevention today at a news conference asked all Utahns to prepare for a “Plan To Get Out Alive” statewide home fire drill to be held Tuesday Oct 6 at 6:30 pm The purpose of the drill is to help children and their families plan in advance so they can safely escape their homes in case of fire “So far this year 10 Utahns have died in fires and six of these people have died as a result of fires in their homes” said Dave Pingree chief of fire prevention for the State Fire Marshal’s Office "More deaths can be prevented if people will take the simple step of carrying out a planned home fire drill” The “Plan To Get Out Alive” program is being conducted by fire departments across the state with the help of the Utah restaurants McDonald’s Broadcasters Association elementary schools and others It is being held in conjunction with national Fire Prevention Week Oct To help people prepare for the drill Utah fire departments and McDonald’s are distributing free home fire escape planning sheets now through Oct 6 In many areas the plans are also being distributed in elementary schools by Each plan infire safety educators cludes home fire drill instructions and an escape route planning guide The plans have been produced as a public Over 300000 service by McDonald’s are being distributed in Utah The program’s track record Last year Utah was one of seven pilot states that tested the McDonald’s “Plan To Get Out Alive” program The program was so successful that it’s being conducted nationwide this year The Wesley and Penny Peterson family of Lehi credits last years program in part with helping their family escape their burning home safely the day after Ironically Vernon Peterson came home from 6 school with his McDonaid’s brochure and reminded his mother about the importance of knowing two exits from each room in the house the Peterson’s home caught fire destroying one room and causing smoke damage to other areas Because Vernon his brother August and Mrs Peterson knew what to do in the emergency all six people in the house made it outside to safety “I strongly encourage other families to plan ahead so they can be as fortunate as we were” Mrs Peterson said Widespread support for this year’s program “Plan To Get Out Alive” has been endorsed by virtually every major fire in the state of service organization These Utah according to Pingree groups included the State Fire Marshal’s Office the Utah Fire Education the State Fire Training Association Department at Utah Valley Community College Professional Fire Fighters the Utah Fire Marshal’s of Utah Association and the Joint Council of Fire Service Organizations The Utah Broadcasters Association which represents 80 radio stations has asked its member stations to sound an alarm over the air at 6:30 pm Oct 6 This will signal the official start of the statewide home fire drill To further draw attention to the program the NBC television network will air a special home fire drill episode on "Valerie’s Family” The episode will air locally on KUTV at 7:30-pm Monday Oct 5 (the day before the drill) “Last year Utah took the lead and showed the nation that this program can make a difference” Bangerter said “Plan To Get Out Alive has already helped save lives I encourage children throughout the state to help
