What fun it is to have so much space and light! We are finally open in the new facility after all these years of board and work by the library librarians and their sympathetic and helpful friends We had no idea that the books on the shelves of the old library would fill so much space in the new one We have rearranged twice to have room for the many new books we have had stored in the basement New Copies of Seuss Our file shows dozens of old copies of Dr Seuss books lost by way of not being returned over the last several years We now have the first gtoup of new copies on the shelves and will base a complete set of Dr Seuss in new specially bound library volumes We are hoping they will last for several years There are also forty new books in the under school to 2nd grade shelves Yes these little ones have a space all their own! The Juvenile (8 to 12 yrs) have a separate section which now contains several new books including a new hardcover set of the "Chronicles ol Narnia" by CS Lewis and about 15 new (to us) Newbery and Caldecott Award books YP not skipped The Young People's section has new Newbery Award books and several new classics to help out with their school reading for extra credit The section also has an additional hundred books of light fiction in hardcover and the of High one hundred paperbacks Adventure novels Some of these aie science fiction and some are old favorites Adult Fiction and The largest group of books in the library is the Adult section Many new titles have been added to the shelves and now we are able to put out the 700 books we received through Senator office Hatch’s These books aie discards from Military bases all over the world The policy is to change the books on these bases every three yeai s Then the books are sent to Washington DC to a central library and the senators honor requests of hbiarics in their constituency and have aides select We books to ship to the libraries received ours a couple of years ago but have only put a few out due to lack of space Come see us in our new by way of the west dooi same hours: 3 to 7 weekdays and to 5 Saturday Pahvant Center Seniors busy by Fvelyn Mallet Senior Citizens of the Pahvant Valley Center have been on the go the past few weeks Tuesday Sept 31 they climbed into their bus taking advantage of a beautiful sunny day and drove along the edge of the mountains through Salem Spanish Tork and up the canyon to Thistle The leaves were at their best and everyone oohed and ed at the glorious colors At Thistle all piled out to stretch their legs and walked over some of the Hooded area and viewed the homes and buildings that had been inundated with the water After many exclamations of sympathy for the unfortunate owners and also admiring the surrounding mountains and colorful trees they were once again on their way to stop in where they used the park picnic tables and ate sack lunches then headed for the Tairview Museum Everyone enjoyed it spending nearly two hours gazing at all the historical of the items of value and interest-ofinest museums most of the seniors said they had eveiy visited Then on through Manti Salina and Scipio and home again- -a lovely well spent day Because of the coming deer hunt visitors the birthday pot luck dinner was held Friday Oct 10 where eight seniors were honored for their Oct birthdays with small gifts Alta Shumway won the door prize A movie "That Darn Cat" was shown after dinner Friday evening Oct 24 they again set out in their bus with nine ladies from the Scipio Center also This time heading for the Marriott Center in Provo for the BYU Homecoming Oiiental Fantasies Show The bus was filled with happy people anticipating the event The seats at Marriott were good with NO steps to climb and the show was excellent It was a very program with something for young and old The Magician was fascinating the dancing beautiful and the Chinese violinist should have had a standing ovation most of the Leaving the center group got lost in the crowd confused by the many entrances and exits that all looked aloke But everyone was finally gathered up and aboard the bus again for a late night trip home with The singing and joyful conversations the Scipio group were nicknamed “wildbunch" They know how to have a good time!
